meh

I don't hate Schlupp, but I just feel that if we are going to play the way we want to play its not with him in the team.

Kouyate does a job, but can only play the way his is facing, finds it impossible to turn.

I suspect we will look scrappy today, none of those midfielders really likes playing with he ball.

Disappointed in the absence of McArthur and Viera’s preference of Mateta over Edouard as he has yet to convince

I agree with the reservations voiced above regarding Schlupp playing in midfield and Mateta playing at all. At least Olise is starting ahead of Ayew I suppose, though I expect the latter to be introduced at some stage, and probably for the former. Doubt we'll see Eze today, or Edouard.

He's actually quite conservative, Vieira, in many ways.

I always hope, with Schluppy in, we can get the left flank going, all supposing Wilf's up for it. I do like it when Schlupp bursts forward on one of his runs. Although, I admit, it's a possible rather than a probable.Lol.

Seem to recall a similar barrage against schlupp last week...

Mateta has been crud but he is now bound to score.

How come Schlupp starts again? And "legs & arms" Mateta another chance - do not get it.

I agree ... not our best team on paper but leaves PV with strong substitutions if things aren't going to plan.

Can't understand why Hughes is on the bench, has been our most consistent performer week in week out. And Mateta.....

Hughes is good at keeping the ball moving with short passes but otherwise, he is very limited. No speed, goal threat or ability to play incisive passes. He had two chances to clear the ball against Burnley and that cost us two points

I agree Mateta is clumsy and not that good as a hold-up player. However, he did take a swing for the goal that got deflected to Kouyate the other day. Would Benteke have done the same? Eduoard has been most effective when playing on the left. His height advantage over full-backs and dribbling ability comes into play. Unfortunately, Wilf plays there

And Mateta almost scores
