It's a nice thought but I think we'd struggle to take £14 million for him as he is now.

Seems it will be a sad ending to his career but he only has himself to blame really.

Will surely be the figurehead of our recent longevity in the PL and an all time Palace great, though I can't help but thinking I'll catch a newspaper or something in around 20 years time and read a sad story about his state of affairs as he's snapped coming out of poundland or somewhere.

I doubt Poundland. Probably more John Lewis that Carrie Johnson looks down her nose at.

I appreciate that there is always a financial angle, but I think that it would be a great tragedy if Wilf played for any other club at this stage.

He is best off at Palace, where he will always be a hero. My only complaint is that he needs to reign in his histrionics when any decision goes against him.

It's not the transfer window, so debate over - for now.

I was recalling with someone yesterday that great 5-3 win against Bournemouth at the end of the 18/19 season. Wilf got a yellow card, almost certainly for retaliation, and was visibly seething at what he saw as the injustice of it. Barely a minute later he got the ball on the left wing and took off like a bat out of hell, and it was obvious that nobody was going to stop him. A defender half wrestled him to the ground but he regained his feet, went on and passed the ball to the onrushing Andros, who swept it into the net. As one journalist said, you rile Zaha at your peril.

Why oh why can't he always react like that rather than sulking?

How quickly fans will turn. One of many reasons I’d love us to win the FA cup is for Wilf to cement his place as our undisputed greatest of all time. And become statue-worthy.

No point in his being sold now. What we would receive for him is nowhere near what he is still worth to Palace.

Wilf should become more mature with age and experience but sadly he gets worse, sulking, arguing, moaning, it’s always somebody else’s fault, team mate, opponent or the ref.

Throughout his Palace career what percentage of his yellow and red cards have been for dissent or petulance, at a guess I would estimate a good 85%. Wilf at his peak is an exciting gifted player and a Palace hero and legend, but I fear it’s all coming to a sad end like a damp firework.

Are fans turning against him or simply stating what the current situation with Wilf is? I am sure that like me, every fan who has commented in some negative way on this thread would also quickly acknowledge what a great player he has been for us. Sadly, the word 'has been' is increasingly the relevant word. I want to see Wilf knuckle down and work with his team mates and not glare at them when things go wrong or don't go the way he wants them. He still has something to offer our club and on his day can still be the best we have. Let's hope we see a better Wilf in the remainder of this season than we have in the few games before Afcon when he wasn't performing that well.

i don't think fans are turning, he is our highest paid player by 50k a week, and he needs to show it, he isn't an automatic choice anymore, do his stuff and no problem, petulance and poor performances and he is on the bench

I don't expect him to start tonight, Eze, Schlupp or Edouard, starting him sends out the wrong message to the other players.

Agree, he'll wait 18 months and see what other offers come in.

Although i can still see SP offering him a longer and more lucrative contract than perhaps he deserves
