Recently my son was telling us about a drinking game he played at Uni called "Rock, Sand." Turns out, every time The Police sang "Rock Sand" you had to drink! He didn't believe me when I told him the correct song title, consequently we all sing Rock Sand now!

Once I was listening to ‘skin deep’ by the stranglers in the kitchen, my mrs shouted out to me “what’s a skooney??” (I don’t even know how to spell it) “a skooney??” I replied. But to be fair, all these years later, I can’t unhear that now, I keep hearing skooney instead of skin deep!!

There was a song around when I first became a Palace fan - 'Burlesque' by the band 'Family'. It used to make me chuckle that it had a line - much repeated towards the end of the song - " I sat on my khazi won't you?" Imagine my shock when, only a couple of years ago, I stumbled on the actual wording "I got all my cards in one shoe". However, when I now listen to the song, I'm still convinced that I was right all along!

First two lines of 'Honky Cat' by Elton John always were and always will be: When I look back, boy, I must have been green

10CC The Things we Do For Love "When you're feeling like a part of used iron" Err, no. Actually: "When you're feeling like a part of you is dying" Literally within the past few years. And that was released 46 years ago.

When I started this thread I thought more of you might describe the memories triggered by a song or it's lyrics. I guess the misheard lyrics are more fun. When I first heard Burl Ives singing 'Mersey boats and dozeydotes' on Children's Favourites with Uncle Mac I couldn't figure it at all. As for the memorable stuff. Whenever I hear or play All Shook Up by Elvis it takes me back to the jukebox in Morello's Ice Cream Parlour in Broadstairs where I first heard it. Another memory jogger is Guantanamera by The Sandpipers. It was played everywhere in Ibiza in 1969 when on holiday there with my present wife while we were still 'going out'.
