I'm wondering whether Vieira may consider choosing between them for tactical reasons depending on the opponent. Butland is more aggressive in the box, better in the air, and may have better hands catching high balls. Guaita moves better at short range and has significantly quicker reactions.

In short, Guaita saves more shots, while Butland (may) reduce threats better.

For teams which rely heavily on aerial threats, Butland may make Vieira more confident, while for all other teams Guaita may be preferred.

Wickham was the future when we sold Murray.

This looks like a 50/50 split now, got a feeling Jack will get another chance.

VG any day. You don't want a keeper with mental problems.

How about you just stick to my inbox, rather than this pointless bravado on the threads - it's giving me mixed signals xx

Was just replying on a thread.
I’m sure in your head, that was a clever response, but I don’t get that one rainbow. ??

I hate to say it, because I love Vicente, but I think if Butland were to rediscover his early career form then he is the better keeper. That is quite a big if for someone who has struggled for a while now with form. If we are going to see the best of him then Vieira will need to stick with him after his Brighton performance and given he said Jack essentially earned us the point I can't see him dropping him.

VG is probably better at reflex saves, but Jack (probably due to being a couple of inches taller and generally bigger) seems to command the area more, especially on crosses. The major issue is that Butland seems quite fragile confidence wise. In terms of playing out from the back I'm not overly convinced by either of them though.

If Guaita could learn to control some of the box rather than being glued to the goal line then he would be streets ahead of Butland but as it is there is not a lot in it.
