Deaths of famous white actors have very obviously been headlines, front pages, the whole deal. You however have no angle to push there and so it's not something you notice or care about. What you're saying it so patently absurd I cannot even take seriously the suggestion that you believe it yourself. It's a thread designed to respect rather than diminish. I don't want to help it be consumed by this kind of stuff, so I'll leave it at that. Edited by BlueJay (09 Jan 2022 10.52pm) Amazing. So name me one White actor whose death has been a headline on TV news. Potier is not even a particularly prolific or universally popular actor.

I think he had talent but he was also used as a political means to an end. However, nothing compared to the messaging today.

The death of an actor is usually kept to near the end of the nightly news. The usual suspects want to pretend that this is all normal, whereas it is indicative of the current loony tunes environment. It is accompanied by the usual double standard that you can make his death political, but apparently, you can't object to or even mention that happening.

He wasn't as big a star as others in his era but Sidney Poitier's life is a tiny part of a boomer truth narrative about 'racism' and 'white supremacy' in a different era and that isn't going to be passed up. So his death means something more to the mainstream than just the passing of a former actor. For me....I'm still getting over David Niven.

If it was Clint Eastwood, I could understand it.

Landmark actor indeed. 1st black actor in main role where his colour was irrelevant and not mentioned (Bedford Incident?)
