I also wouldn't disagree....We all have to put up with rules we don't agree with from time to time. Mind you, there has never really been 'one rule for all'. Exceptions are a matter of course all through the system. It's not what the rule is...it's who you are, how serious it is and whose in charge of giving a damn. Nothing arrogant about it. He followed the rules. Applied for an exemption like many other people and australians have and was granted it. So I dont see what your problem is? For me he is a symbol of hope in this s*** world be now live in where it is pretty much medical Apartheid The issue as I understand it is that they have discovered discrepancies on his exemption request form. What they are and how serious they are I guess is the issue. He is appealing so presumably he doesn't think they are serious.

I think the Aussie crowd will turn on him big time should he win and play in what will be quite hostile atmosphere towards him.

It would be quite funny if he wins the tournament and just packs his bags up and walks off court. There might be things written in the contract about that, or maybe not. It’s not as if they expect it’ll ever happen. Winners are probably required to attend press conferences. He doesn’t need the money. It would be funny if he did that.

Seems the UK Govt are about to follow Australia's stance with sports stars if this piece in the Telegraph is anything to go by . . .
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Hi exemption argument is actually pretty decent if he can show that he had Omicron. If he can't however, then it isn't.

It's all down to due process. Rules is for everyone. But just for the cvntish way he's chosen to play this, I'd go along to the tournament just to boo and generally give him some abuse. t055er Edited by Forest Hillbilly (08 Jan 2022 11.30am)

Agreed none of us knows what he wrote on his exemption request as a justification or how valid it is, one for the lawyers. One paper has even suggest that the Australian Tennis Association incorrectly advised him and other players oops own goal if that is true. I did smile about how upset the Serbs are about this including their President. One of the papers pointed out that the COVID travel restrictions for Australia and Serbia are practically the same so why is their President moaning.
