Hang on on somebody just bought the flat next door for the poor, oh heck I've been virtue signalling.

It's kinda interesting that nobody has yet said they'd buy Palace and make us the big club we know we should be. Too tricky eh?!
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

If someone turned up at SP office door & said, OK Steve , how much for the whole club ? & got his cheque book out, what number do you think would realistically have to be on the cheque ? Then - How much would you need to realistically invest every year to tread water ? How much to be a regular in the top 6 ? How much to actually win the PL say twice in 5 years - I dont know what those numbers are ( perhaps some on here do, or could have a good guess) but one thing is for sure they will all have a lot of zero,s Originally posted by Palace Old Geezer

What sticks in my craw is having to shell out loads of money to players and agents. They walk away rich and without any responsibility even if they are rubbish or unprofessional. Yes it is too tricky, there is also the grief you get from the supporters, so a big no from me.

It's difficult to imagine what that much money looks like, especially to someone like me who hangs on to his Christmas decorations every year! No wonder he wants to blow some of it getting to the Moon or wherever. What would you buy if you had 5 billion burning a hole in your pocket?

To put it into context, Elon Musk earns the average UK salary of £26700 in under 2 minutes. That average salary worker could save their first £1 million in just 37 years (if they had zero expenses), yet, it would take a whopping 37,453 years to save a billion! Elon Musk is currently worth around $270 billion. It truely is an unfathomable amount of wealth for one individual to hold. 'Just' £1 million would see me right!

Well he's just bought Twitter lock, stock & barrel. I haven't laughed so much at the hand wringing from some on his acquisition, since Trump became President.

Will be fascinating to see where he takes Twitter. He's a man of action. Admittedly there is a 'low rent' quality to Twitter at the min but it's certainly the most relevant social media network around. I expect he'll push heavily towards freedom of speech, but also firmly tie accounts to identity (to get rid of trolls, bots etc). It will reign in behaviour somewhat where it's attributed to a person and so accountability and freedoms will be in sensible balanced. Edited by BlueJay (25 Apr 2022 11.49pm)
