Not in the squad today. Hopefully not another injury as you'd expect him to be ahead of a 2nd keeper on the bench.

After AWB had another shocker for Manure today it looks like the 50 mil was a stroke of genius. If only Ferguson can get a run of games maybe picking him up for peanuts may also be a decent bit of business. Still time on his side.

AWB was played as a right wing-back in the second half before he was withdrawn. In my humble judgement, his real strength is defending in 1 v 1 situations, but advancing forward and providing an attacking threat down the flank is not his forte. He needs to work on his final ball into the box and he was disappointing today but certainly not the only Man Utd player in this category.

Agreed. And that was also the case when he was with us. In 2 years at Old Trafford he hasn't progressed. And if anything the careers of Rashford, Greenwood have stalled. As for Ferguson, he's only going to get game time if we get injuries. Maybe a loan out with a recall option is the best way forward for him right now.

Do you think our current defence is that good?

TBF I never understood why they wanted him. As you said, excellent in 1vs1, but that's not really the key requirement of a top 6 fullback in the modern game.

But I don't envisage any of the back four being replaced by a player that's got 10 minutes playing time in the last two years under his belt. Unless injuries necessitate that.

I understand your argument, adding that Ferguson as a footballer is very inexperienced, only playing 22 first-team games in his career and his last start was nearly 2 years ago. Perhaps a spell on loan at a lower division club will be in the interests of Ferguson and our club. Edited by Willo (04 Jan 2022 9.15am)

AWB has suffered due to the the relaxing of tacking/fouling laws this season. Less adept defenders now win more balls meaning if he was breaking through with us as a youngster now, his value would be considerably less. Incredible we got that fee.
I ain't got nuthin' funny to say. Sorry. |

Back to Ferguson; the plan was to give him U23 game time but Omicron put a stop to that. What PV and Co had planned after that, who knows? I suppose it depends on how well he does in the U23s once they're up and running again and then how he does in training with the first team squad. We can but wait and see.

I wouldn’t mind him getting a half in the cup game
