I was just thinking I can"t be arsed to try and understand all this crypto stuff, i"m stuck in the cash only taxi world of yesteryear, then you come out with a phrase on here I never heard of! What does pinning this thread mean? If you look at the title of this thread on the Palace Talk board, you will see that there is a red drawing pin to the left of the title. Pinning means I went over to Hol Towers (where the mods live) and got the pin and stuck it in the board so the post can't slip down and get lost in the rest of the posts on there. Hope this helps

The club has made a few missteps over the years but this is right up there. Quite how the owners think they can encourage the purchase of crypto currency on the basis of enhanced engagemnent is beyond me. Shame

The club needs to re think this one pronto. Looks like it was thought up by the organizers of the Downing St Xmas party. Fans should simply boycott it and hit the club where it hurts - in the pocket.

It's all changed since my day, when your main financial transaction other than admission was the purchase of a Kia-Ora in the main stand.

I highly recommend reading it all, but this should summarise well enough ‘If consumers invest in these types of products, they should be prepared to lose all their money and they are unlikely to have access to any redress or compensation schemes,” an FCA spokesperson told The Athletic.’ ‘There is a key difference between Football Index and Socios, though. The former was regulated by the UK Gambling Commission and was required by the UK Financial Conduct Authority to run prominent disclaimers saying that the product carried financial risk. Reading about the volatile world of Socios, with traders buying low and selling high, and ordinary fans potentially carrying the can, you may be wondering what rules and regulations are in place to protect consumers or how the company advertises. The answer is: none.’ Run away. Far far away And complain to the club. Write to Parish. We shouldn’t be entertaining this nonsense. Cheers, just read it. Poor indeed for the club to get involved in this. Parish has let himself down. I’m not a crypto guy, but as I understand it, this looks to prey on naive fans who think that buying Socio’s gives them a say in the running of the club whilst having the opportunity to benefit financially if the club succeed. The reality is you get a minuscule vote on the design of the team bus and the value of your investment is actually influenced by Socio’s as they can manipulate the market, to their advantage, with their +30% ownership of the currency - as per the case with Messi signing for PSG and Atletico winning La Liga. Furthermore, as not regulated, the is no recourse when your investment inevitably fails. It’s this sort of crap that makes my job (as an IFA) difficult as people are so distrusting of investing in general. This is going to cause a stink. Edited by Goal Machine (11 Dec 2021 8.57am)
