We are a midtable Premier league club, you win some, you draw and lose more, seems pretty normal to me. Exactly right. Everyone always tries to explain stuff that happens, but in a low-scoring game, results are decided by luck far more often than people accept. It’s all very Palace. We miss McArthur but we just haven’t had the luck recently. There’s no reason begging to be revealed.

I do think Macca makes a difference, as well as Andersen with his passing out from the back which is almost Sakho-like. However I would like to see Vieira try and adapt the system a bit more while Macca is out. Now we know Schlupp isn't really like Macca (as well as Luka) surely he can change things a bit so we aren't so dependent on two extremely busy centre mids running around pressing everyone. Plenty of decent midfields in this league don't have that and get by just fine.

There's little doubt that Jimmy Mac has been mighty for us this season, and Anderson to a lesser extent. But their recent absence is not the only cause of our failure to gain more points. Fact is our front runners ie Ayew and Benteke are not up to standard in front of goal. They have both missed easy chances and cost us points. Also, I regret to say, as much as I think he has huge potential, Guehi has cost us points too. Some reckless play from him. In a nutshell, I don't think our recent 'drop in form' is just down to 2 players.

Is the correct answer, all this crap about this player missing and that plyer blah blah is just total crap, we lost by the odd goal in three games and games where we had chances the draw them all, nothing to worry about as far as I'm concerned

Macca and Andersen's absence undoubtedly have an impact. As it would for any team losing two of their best.

Don't think anything has 'gone wrong'. It's just a long season. We are a mid-table team. If you're in the middle of the league, you're inconsistent. Sometimes a mid-table team looks good, and other times they look weak, depending on their form and the form of their opponents. I do think we seem to have lost some energy. The pressing isn't quite with the same intensity as it was a month ago. MacArthur's absent, and Gallagher has gone from looking super-human to a mere excellent footballer. Also Olise has lost his knack of turning up for ten minutes and finding an assist. A lot has been made of our defensive frailties, especially at set-pieces. But we were good against Man Utd. They've improved and they really had to work hard to beat us. Both sides can take positives from the game. We'd have beaten Burnley defending like that.

Injuries and teams working us out. One of the things not mentioned is the Macca injury has now resulted in Gallagher playing in a deeper role. The deeper role does not play to his strengths which is getting forward to help support the forwards where as the moment they are having to do it on their own.

Misses from our front men are costing us! Wonder how long Ayew and Tekkers will be 1st team starters?

Absolutely, while the impact Macca being gone can be exaggerated, it's stupid to think Luka or Jairo or Jeff have stepped into that role seamlessly as if nothing's changed. No way anyone thinks Jeff was as good as Macca yesterday unless they are utterly clueless. Likewise Tomkins/Andersen does have an effect on our attacking play, even if the argument could be made Tomkins is better defensively.

Too conservative in starting lineups and how we approach games. Focusing on physicality in the middle meaning we can't hold onto the ball and have to rely on counters. Not pressing as intensely as we did. Playing certain players who run a lot but when they get into good positions nothing ever comes of it (cough Ayew cough) Everton next is the perfect time to go back to our principles under Vieira and make them worry about what we'll do to them more than us being solid (but still losing)
