Nick Abbott on LBC at 10pm Friday, saturday and sunday, the best there is, in my opinion. Hits the nail on the head, and has bungles and the dons voiceovers chucked in, anybody who hasn"t heard it give it a whirl!

But at the same time glad it exists as any democracy needs voices across the political spectrum.

While I'm happy about the anti woke stuff and consider GB News very milk toast in terms of right wing I fully agree with you about the Democratic point.

I don't think it's right that anyone peaceful....regardless of their political opinions has no representation. Indeed, I think people will have more trust not less if open discussion is allowed over the corporate and censored direction we are moving in.

Personally I think decentralized societies which have more independent political systems thus allowing people to make choices between is a far better future....similar to independent states in America.....where California is run very differently to Texas for example.

Instead of forcing people to all live the same way surely choice is a better option.....and for that we all need more freedom not less.

You were lucky enough for their mics to be switched on and the lips to move with the sound? Yes, always anti woke , voices shut down chat, we get it Gb, you aren"t fans, now can we change the subject to actual news?

I watch GB News over the BBC and Sky and see no reason to change. My only issue in terms of bias is with the BBC because I am forced to pay for it. Once that stops, then the BBC can be as biased as it wants. Other than that, then it should be down to people's viewing preferences and the reality is that the more choices of journalism we have, the more we can make up our own minds about issues.

Bias is in the mind of the beholder.

The BBC has an obligation NOT to be biased, and I, for one, think it strives very hard not to be.

GB News is not under any such obligation.

You watch whatever you like. How long that will be GB News is open to question.

If they fail, the BBC will still be there. So long as you continue to pay your licence fee.

Exactly GB News will succeed or fail based on consumer choice if you want to watch TV that option is not available on the BBC hardly a fair comparison.

I noticed that the BBC has now introduced a pay subscription service for its BBC cooking / food app! (no me neither) so when it suits the Beeb they can charge the punters just like any other streaming service.

Well quite. I choose not to watch Sky News in the UK because I dislike its style intensely. But I have zero objection to Sky News existing. I am not forced to pay for it.

Whereas with the BBC I am forced to pay for it. Meaning that I expect it to reflect the widest possible range of views from across the spectrum. Which during the Brexit issue, it patently did not, showing a disgusting bias towards those who wanted the July 2016 result cast aside. The BBC is not fit for purpose any more and there is no justification for it to be paid for by licence fee. If Government wish to fund a state broadcaster then let it do so from normal taxation. Not by compelling people to pay for an organisation that made little effort to disguise the contempt it felt towards 52% of people who voted Leave in the Brexit Referendum.

No you aren't. This is the fundamental mistake that the "BBC haters" all seem to make.

If you want to watch any live TV, you need a licence.

It's the revenue from the licence which helps to fund the BBC, but the reason for that is to keep it free of commercial influences and/or government interference. Ensuring the BBC is independent means it is trusted, both at home, and more importantly aboard, to tell the truth as it sees it. It has nothing to do with your own viewing preferences.

The BBC is a precious, vital asset for the UK's reputation and standing in the world.

You being asked to buy a licence to watch TV is a small price to pay to protect that reputation. You don't have to like it, or watch it. But you need to support it. We ALL do. It's our common duty.

Those who wish to avoid the licence fee are being every bit as selfish as those who refuse to get vaccinated against Covid, or wear a mask when required to do so.

So to be able to watch any live tv we are forced to pay for a licence which then funds the BBC?

Sorry WE I can't let that go, "our duty"?

Our duty is to behave live civilised people and up hold the law I have no obligation or responsibility to the BBC neither do I give a damn about the BBC's reputation. Its a broadcaster with a massive media reach and who employs thousands of people let them worry about its reputation, not my problem.

Yes, we all are because the British Broadcasting Corporation is a national asset. It is established by a Royal Charter and is a public corporation. We all, collectively, own it.

The BBC is public service broadcasting at it's finest. That some don't like it's output and imagine it has a political agenda is shared by those of all political thought.

Whether you like it, or not, is really beside the point. You are British. It is British. It's your and my responsibility to ensure it remains independent of government and commercial influence.

You may not appreciate that today, but should the day dawn when our politics turns again, and you find yourself vehemently opposed to a government who seeks to take over the BBC and use it to stifle free expression, then you may be very glad that it's yours, and not theirs.

I am sure we both behave like civilised people and uphold the laws. One of which requires you to pay the licence fee if you watch live TV. So you DO have an obligation to pay the licence fee, whether you "give a damn" about its reputation, or not.

However, I think we all ought to care about its reputation. As our national broadcaster, it is one of our most prominent faces to the world, which makes many of its judgements on what they see and hear from the BBC. That reputation is really very good everywhere, except in places where the truth isn't palatable or even allowed to be broadcast. Trump dissed the BBC. That's a pretty strong recommendation for me.

The BBC reflects the UK of today. That not everyone likes what shines back from that mirror is obvious, but you ought still be proud it's there, British and independent. Rather the BBC than Sky, Fox or anything touched by the hand of Murdoch.

No it doesn't.

And their history programmes certainly do not reflect the UK of yesterday.
