To your last comment, Brighton away last year. We look much more dangerous up front when Benteke plays, he gives their CBs a tough game. He holds the ball up and creates space for other players. Yes he misses some chances, but he gets in the position to have those chances, which others don’t seem to do. His strengths are his aerial presence and hold up play, but I disagree about getting in the right positions, I actually think that's his weakness. So often a player pings a ball across the edge of the 6-yard box and he's on the 18-yard line. I think he's improved over the last 12 months after a few years of being woeful, but he is never going to be a striker that pressures defenders with constant running and he still seems to need at least three gilt-edged chances per goal.

By my reckoning, Benteke will need to be provided with 100 scoring chances over the course of the season to achieve that number. It's a shame we couldn't compete with Newcastle for Callum Wilson, he would be ideal in our set up.

Would you rather 'the chance' fell to Benteke or Edouard? If your honest with yourself, I think the answer is fairly obvious. His hold up play is horrific - he can't trap the ball and his passing is pathetic. Edited by EverybodyDannsNow (01 Dec 2021 11.46am)

Agree re his movement - he is only ever looking for the stood up ball to the far post, which he needs to take a run at, so if a quick low ball is ever delivered he's normally stood around the penalty spot on his heels. Your last paragraph summarises it well for me.

Edouard didn’t impress last night against physical defenders, I don’t think he created one chance. The difference was when Benteke came on.

He's also a bit nasty, not fun to play against but you'd love him in your team

He got a toe onto a nothing diagonal which the keeper nearly f*cked up, and missed a free header from 4 yards because Wilf produced a great cross. Benteke played 22 mins, completed 3 passes (out of 7 attempted), lost possession 5 times (he only had 13 touches) and missed a sitter. Is that where we set the bar now?

Such rubbish from you two, our performance improved so much with him when he came on and it is quite obvious how much he's improved under PV, it wasn't as easy a chance as you think because he had a covering defender running across him and their keeper still to beat and he'd be the first to say with his decent form that he should've been at least on target ..our biggest mistake last night was not making subs during Leeds best spell around the hour mark because it was quite evident we needed a change then. we do look a lot better when he came on, however, it was a terrible miss. The cross was so good the goalie was nowhere. He just needed to get it on target. I remember a similar miss by Sakho a few years ago (last minute v Newcastle?), just needed to get it on target but went for too much power and missed the target. Not Tekkers biggest fan but hope he starts this weekend. We need a focal point to the attack and at set pieces

Because as much as I agree with everything (and I cant stand the guy most of the time) we looked better when he was on. Unfortunately whilst we see little glimpses of quality from OE, he isn't playing well enough to keep Benteke out of the team. That's because he isn't playing CF, can you imagine Benteke on the left wing

He doesn't have any strengths apart from he can jump high, cant head though, and sadly doesn't get injured a lot
