Fancy giving Ayew a run through the middle for this one. Might breath new life into him.

Time to start Olise.

Agree with this line-up.

I know you are Luks's biggest fan, which is no problem, but please, keep him away from free-kicks & corners, Olise is so much better.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Haha yeah, fair enough. Although I think I'm second to Roy.

Happy w/ Olise or Gallagher on corners.

Horrible team. Luka and Ayew offer absolutely nothing to the team. Also negates our best player this season (Gallagher) by forcing him to play more defensively to accommodate Ayew.

Wow, tell us how you really feel.

Luka is defensive steel in front of the back four. You don't always notice when he's there...but you notice when he's not. Every single one of our painful goals conceded in the final minutes this season is when he's come off moments earlier. He's also our leader and numerous players have said how great he talks everyone around the pitch etc.

Ayew is more of a risk, admittedly. But I'd take a gamble on him through the middle for a game...might breath new life into him.

And yeah I buy your point about Gallagher. That's fair.

VG

Ward JA MG Mitchell

kouyate

Gallagher Sclupp

Edouard Bentenke Zaha

I'd start Edouard over Ayew, with Olise ready in the wings. Other than that, for me, the only real question is who else plays in midfield with Gallagher. I'd go with Kouyate over Luka for his defensive strength and give Schlupp a chance with his pace and directness. Someone needs to step up and fill McArthur's shoes and my gut feeling is it'll end up being Eze once fully fit as I'm not overly convinced anyone else is up to it. Hopefully someone proves me wrong; possibly Hughes?

Or go with this:

Guaita

ward andersen Guehi Mitchell

Olise gallagher kouyate Wilf

Eduoard Benteke

I know PV likes 4-3-3 but you have to be adaptable, Villa are rubbish, go for their throats, blow them away in 30 mins

Same as Burnley, except Olise to start for Ayew.

Sorry but Luka hasn’t been good enough for 2 years now. He is yards off the pace at all times. His lack of fitness shows by the fact he rarely completes 90mins. The insistence on taking set pieces is infuriating seeing as his last decent dead ball was 1st game back lockdown.

The DM position is one we really need to solve. Kouyate get about but is soo weak for somebody who is 6”4. Hopefully Hughes will get a chance but he’s had a tough start. We have been linked with Anguissa a few times which suggests PV knows this is an area of weakness.

I think Edouard will come in for Ayew.
Olise will again have an opportunity from the bench.
The more complicated question is who comes in for Mcarthur.
I was sure Schlupp would be the choice at the weekend, but Luka was the eventual choice.
Personally I’m not convinced by Schlupp as a central midfield player and I don’t think Luka and Kouyate works in a team playing the way Vieira wants to play.
Hughes or Eze would be my choice to replace Mcarthur fitness permitting.
As neither have featured this season, however, I doubt Vieira will throw them in from the start.
So it looks to be a choice between Luka and Schlupp again.

Agree with this.

For better or for worse, I think Luka will keep his place.

It will be a tough game, Gerrard has had a good start and I'm sure they'll be up for it.

Agreed with this starting line up, Olise has better impact from the bench, he was average when he started against Newcastle, he will get better over the season
