Dario Gradi, Alan Mullery, Ron Noades (2 games), Peter Taylor, Paul Hart, George Burley all awful

Alan Smith and Ian Dowie, and before anyone says Dowie got us promotion no he didnt, Andy Johnson got us Promotion, who was bought by Trevor Francis I did not like Dowie, but a bit unfair on him, the run from xmas, to the play off win was one of the best, if I remember correctly we were in the bottom six at xmas

I see the main article on Holmesdale is the Worst 5 Palace Managers, listed as :- #5 Alan Pardew Whilst stats may point to these managers, I think that is bit unfair on some. Pardew - he did very well when he firs came in, but to me he always seemed to gamble on games. Never settle for draw, which led to losses. Could have gone the other way. Holloway - he got us into the playoffs (despite a drop off in results), but then through the playoffs and final, into the PL. I think having Murray injured didn't help his cause. Warnock - once again did very well in his first spell, but as he has shown he does struggle in the PL. But by no means the worst. De Boer - contentious maybe, but despite the results some of the football was actually quite good to watch. Had Zaha not been injured in the 1st game and had he not tried to change everything all at once, he might have been ok. There have been far worse managers in my opinion :- G.Burley (yes, I would agree with that) Although I was around, I can't quite remember Dario Gradi and Alan Mullery but I suspect they definitely should be on that list. Interesting to see that in the modern era Dave Bassett has the highest win percentage of 48% from 1996 - 1997. Holloway got us promoted, Pardew kept us up and reached a cup final. WArnock would probably have reached the play offs at the very least had we not gone into administration. All 3 of these names are ridiculous to put down as worst managers.

I wouldn't pay any attention to this what defines worst managers? Do you do it by points per game ratio or how much money they spent? The other thing is you cant really compare the different era managers. The names listed any neutral party could give positives and negatives for them all.

This whole article was just clickbait. They should be embarrassed doing it.

We watched it in the pub together. After that, an incredible surge to get promotion.

Yep, someone’s had a stinker there. Should be taken down quick. FDB and Burley probably merit their 1 & 2 spots. Holloway was poor and almost managed to derail the Dougie train - he can take no credit for promotion in my opinion. I’d say both Warnick and particularly Pardew were successful. Highest PL finish and a cup final - could argue he’s out most successful (I’m not btw). Long time ago but I remember Peter Taylor and Trevor Francis playing some turgid stuff.

Mullery I arrived at these selections using one simple benchmark - the amount of confidence i had in their ability to be successful.
