If Eze is a better attacker than CG then why not.

At City, whenever De Bruyne is out, Gundogan plays further forward and looks really good, but then when De Bruyne is back, Gundogan plays further back.

With respect MrRobbo, we are not Citeh.

Tbf, I do see where you're coming from, tho personally, it would ruin CG.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Horses for courses. But certainly looks a little lightweight, especially against the bigger teams. Need Luka in there for some steel and probably McArthur's work rate too.

Let’s not forget that so far Edouard has only proved himself useful at pressing from the front so far.

2 goals in his opening minutes of a debut has made people dizzy which is fair enough but since then his first touch, hold-up play and even getting a chance to strike has been limited.

I personally think he is the answer to our Striker problems and will come good. However, if he doesn’t by Christmas, I think it’s time Crystal Palace started becoming ruthless and not gifting barren Strikers starting spots just because ‘they get about a bit’ or ‘hold up play well without scoring’ etc.

In that case, dare I say we could try and replicate a budget City with no actual Striker. Zaha starts up top and if he’s marked out of the game he rotates with Eze/Gallagher/Ollisse etc.

very good article, completely agree, if you add Rak-Sakyi and Banks in the mix many options

No I get that, but the principle remains. At present Connor is by far our most progressive centre midfielder. When Eze returns we have a nice problem.

Do we try and find space for him centrally at the detriment to Connors attacking game, or do what we've done with Ayew and play him out of position?

I suspect to start with he'll be used sparingly to ease him back in, but if he scores a couple of the bench Vieira will have to find a solution.

I see CG being a straight replacement for JMac. Both box to box, both loads of energy. Ideal world, we only have one of them in our team to allow us to play all EE, OE and WZ with Luka/Hughes in behind.

against stronger teams - and when needed, we can always play all 3, CG JMac and LM.

As a side issue touched on here.

It will be interesting under the new coaching regime if we suffer
as many injuries this season as in the past few.

A younger squad should help but if Eze can suffer a major injury then I guess anybody can - unless the training methods are better supervised than they were.

We do seem to be fitter now so that's a good sign.

Mouthwatering IMO when all fit and firing but would we have too much flair???

Unworkable.

Midfield is about defending as well as attacking.

What a strange thing to say. Eze's injury had nothing to do with training supervision.

Possible,Gallagher would play the anchor role and we would miss him further up field so this is a non starter.

Sorry Lanzo but IMO Banks' only PL quality asset at present is his free kick. The rest of his game is lower league standard at best. He has poor awareness and positioning and still has much to learn.

Exactly, as even Citeh discovered to their cost in the CL final by not playing a holding midfielder.
