You're right that he was hardly mr allegiance either. The amount of people he threw under the bus when it was convenient to do so was comical. It was always going to be a struggle, as an individual country getting better deals than a trading block. That would be true whoever was President. Trump didn't give a sh!t and Biden doesn't know whether he's coming or going. Good luck Boris!

The Northern Ireland protocol is detrimental to the whole of Ireland. No matter how much bull our government talks, it's clear who our bosses are. Any trouble with the Unionists also affects us all. I would rather have had no deal than the Northern Ireland protocol. Literally no one in Ireland wants the North either - except in drunken songs. If the EU cared about actual people, they would cancel the stupid protocol. Biden and the Yanks don't have a clue - they're just looking for votes from plastics called Erin and the like. More hilariously so as these are the very people who voted Trump as they don't like immigration. The Dems trying to bring them back with their 'Kiss me I'm Irish' hats. Yeah, the north is a giant cess pit money wise, but as boris decided to single handedly decide he had the power to go against international law and tinker with it, i"m glad the president told him to fcuk off! The yanks, including the Irish yanks, soon turn in to fully fledged , anti immigrration cnuts, turning their wrath on to the mexicans-this , happened 30 odd years ago, maybe longer. My mate from ROS worked in NYC for years , and couldn"t believe the Irish blaming the Mexicans for the downfall of work-they were obviously the old school conservative Irish, he had to shake his head in disbelief- the irony! The danger of trump getting elected was he might just have bought in to this boris nonsense-in exchange for a new golf course in the south maybe, lining his own pockets obvs! Biden isn"t having any of it- taxi for boris!

Yeah, I say "we" and "us" as i"m a british-and Irish citizen, and consider myself a free spirit, free to roam anywhere that I fancy, not tied down to a little eng-lan-der, and boris was turned over again last nite, with a flea in his ear, whats not to like! Who cares if it's called 'special' or not? I stated the reality of the situation. For economic and military reasons the British have been the junior partner in this relationship since post WW2. To present that as if it's news....like it's some kind of 'Brexit' own just boggles my mind. Just who do you think you are teaching? As I said....and as you ignored the relationship between us and America is dependent upon who the PM and US president are and how they get on. However, any rift can only cut so far as.....again, as I stated, both countries are joined at the hip both militarily and with intelligence services.....even fools like Biden know that. As for yourself, I stated the 'cake and eat it' observation....you think it's ok to view your identity purely in selfish, what's important to you terms. Ok, but these things also cut both ways. So if you want to talk about being a free spirit then, in reality, when you talk of 'we' it isn't real and just your cake. Also, I have to smile about being 'British and Irish'....my father is northern Irish, the distinction between the British and Irish is national and as such conceptual. I call myself English because that's my culture/genetics but in reality I'm a northern European mix just as you probably are....as are all the native Irish and British. Edited by BlueJay (22 Sep 2021 3.52pm) No, Trump made it clear that a trade deal between Britain and the US would happen: the words are there. I also don't accept that Trump suspected he wouldn't be president. At the time it was 50/50....and lets not go there on what actually happened. Your take comes across as revisionism. The president you supported is pretty negative towards the UK....and that was known before the election. Edited by Stirlingsays (22 Sep 2021 4.03pm)

What the actual final signed, sealed or delivered deal would've been though is anyones guess. 50/50 provides a very reasonable possibly that he won't be President and indeed he isn't.

On the likelihood of re-election....well 50/50 was my stated position before the election. Personally I think Trump would have probably thought more positively than that. However, god knows I don't want to revisit the election stuff.

He approaches politics as he approaches business. And with that in mind, I wouldn't be surprised to see him as the GOP candidate again in 2024. To be continued..

Does the french president incessantly crawl to the USA like this? Its like the UK reporting for its daily orders. And they might as well as the tories have sold off so much to the USA we may as well be considered as the 52nd (?) state. Not mentioning a certain PL football club of course! The NHS is holding out but that will be dismembered by the tories, they have probably run out of money servicing the 2 trillions of debt. When you see them cut the £20 of poor people who badly need it, while spending over 100 billions on a railway line you wonder if there is any sanity left. Biden is actually right, no trade deal means you can actually trade and our balance is healthy. Trade deals are 90% political and 10% trade.

From a right wing perspective Trump was fun, however, to quote the Monkeys: that was then and this is now. I seriously think the ages of these leaders has to be taken into account by both parties.....For god's sake get some fresh blood in. The republicans are obviously going to use Trump for the 22 mid-terms but I hope they have moved on after that.
