Remember him well. 1.15 million wouldn't get you a fish supper in Dubai these days

I'm surprised Harry Kane hasn't had a mention yet. Is it me, or is he really worth £150m? I think there's a lot of hype around him and there's no wonder that Man City walked away.

Mind you, after failing to score against Southampton yesterday, maybe even Harry might have helped.

A couple of years ago, I'd say yes. Now he seems to have lost a bit of pace and must have only 3 seasons or so left in him. When you add in his wages, no wonder even City wouldn't do it. They'll all be after Haaland now anyway. Haaland looks worth a lot more than Kane in my opinion. There is also Mbappe too. In truth no footballers are worth the price and their wages are also ludicrous.

It was reported that with the transfer, wages and agent fees Harland would have cost Chelsea £500m over five years so they signed Lukaku instead.
What would Jimmy Greaves be worth in this market?

If you really think Pele and George Best were overrated, I must be watching a different game or through another pair of glasses!

They were both geniuses on the football field, two of the best players to have ever played the game!

Shane MacGowan is a brilliant musician.

But he fell out with the rest of the Pogues cos he was always drunk.

George Best was a busted flush by age 27, when many professional players are just getting going. An amazing talent, and an amazing drunk. Not fit to tie the shoelaces of Messi.

Have to agree with you Palazio - a tragic waste. Bit like Elvis really, although his problems were Colonel Parker and drugs.

Giroud is was criminally underrated in my opinion, scored a couple of world class goals against us, scored a goal every other game in the prem, even tho probably over half his appearance came from the bench. Will also end up Frances all time scorer tho admittedly he wasn't great when they won the world cup. He never got a fair crack in the prem especially last season with Chelsea.

Agree with this, a great player who just never really got enough minutes

I agree with the OP - I think Giroud is one of the most overrated in recent years.

To play every game upfront for a World Cup winning team and not score a goal is almost unbelievable.

Arsenal should have won the league in 15/16 - Sanchez and Ozil were two of the best creative players in the league, and if it wasn't for Giroud going on a 15-game goalless spell, they would've pipped Leicester to it.

The reason he was never first choice at Chelsea is simply because they knew, whilst a decent back-up, he is not a reliable enough goalscorer to be the main striker in a team aiming to win titles.

He had the most goals and assists in the Premier League last year, not even playing for one of the best teams, so yes I think he's pretty much invaluable.

Someone who conservatively guarantees you 25 goals a season (he hasn't dropped below 24 in the last 7 seasons) and in a good year will exceed 40 is pretty much the hardest thing to find in football.
