There will never be an 'old fashioned war' between superpowers.
Thank the bomb for that.

Officially, China are nowhere near the nuclear power of the US or Russia. They're more like Britain and France nukes wise. They may well dictate a largely conventional war. If they don't nuke, can we?

Amen to that Hrolf, especially if we are flexing to China. Still a nice hacking war with China or Russia could be fun!

Presumptions I'd say. It really doesn't matter anyway.
America could destroy the whole planet ten times over.
We also have no idea what else America has up its sleeve. I'm fairly sure that the technology they have is 30 years ahead of where we think it is.
That stuff will only be revealed if necessary.

Firstly China are building 150 brand new ICBM nuclear missile silos, you can see them on the following link.
[Link]
And here
[Link]

The CCP have also announced they plan to keep nuking Japan until there is nothing left
See here
[Link]
You need to understand how the CCP works, if this kind of news makes its way into Chinese media it first needs to go through the CCP so you can take it as a promise from the top of the Chinese government.

China are currently militarising/building a ton of Islands in the East/South China sea & the Philippines sea enabling them to apply considerable pressure on their neighbours.
Heres a google of the Spratley Islands.
[Link]

China has also threatened to destroy Australia should it get involved in regional conflicts.
[Link]

China's Navy is now the largest in the world and continues to expand at an alarming rate, as does their air force.

China has made no secret of its plans to dominate the Pacific.

China will invade Taiwan.
Taiwan has around 290,000 fulltime land/sea/air troops which can be rapidly deployed to defend the Island, it also has around 3.8m conscripts that it can call upon (2 days military training a year)
The Western half of Taiwan is a fortress and the Taiwanese would look to rain an unbelievable amount of Missiles upon a frontal Chinese assault.
China would first take a small set of Islands to the West of Taiwan (take a look on google you'll see what I mean) from there China would use the Islands as a staging area and could encircle Taiwan and invade on all sides long before the US manage to wake Biden up from one of his naps.

China has been in an arms race with the West for years and we have sleep walked into this and are considerably behind in the region.

AUKUS makes a lot of sense, what were seeing is the beginnings of a Pacific NATO, I would imagine Japan will be brought into this too however I suspect New Zealand wont get a look in as they are quite compromised by the CCP.

For Britain this is great news, the US cant build Nuclear subs quick enough for their own fleets and cant really spare the manpower to build a fleet for Australia this is where Britain comes into it, we'll be supplying the expertise to flesh out Australia's Nuclear subs which will be worth Billions upon to billions to the UK.

I cant find the exact quote however the Australian Minister of Defence Peter Dutton is pretty new to the job and recently did and assessment of Australian military capability and was horrified to see that the Australian military was in a right s*** state and, has set about completely rebuilding the Military, AUKUS clearly is a big part of that.

Laugh and take the piss all you like but China are not f***ing about, and if you think it ends with just Taiwan you're sorely mistaken.

A couple of other posters wrote similar things about Taiwan. I don't know enough to comment apart from I doubt China would be larging it so much if Trump was still in charge. Biden will watch it unfold and be more concerned about his next 13 Yr old to sniff.

Macron looks completely unabashed, opening a new eco-friendly TGV plant.

Johnson off to New York to receive further instructions.

Why not withdraw their Ambassador from the UK as well?

I suspect its because the EU are currently putting feelers out to the UK about joining up with them in some kind of new defence pact because other than the French, nobody else has any kind of significant military capacity.

Our military and the French also co-operate far more closely than either nation cares to admit and I suspect its better to paint this as a US-Australian stitch up with the UK just along for the Anglo-centric ride.

Ha if Trump were in charge hes so dim he would have made a pre emotive strike on Chile.

Or done one of his deals signing Taiwan over to the Chinese.
