The one ticket per membership has put some off - I haven't renewed my membership as used to go with the Mrs and get both our tickets on the one membership We both can't go to all matches due to work or other commitments so paying for two memberships that won't both get used a lot of the time seemed a waste of money so we decided to give it a miss this season

Im old and too nervous to attend matches because of covid. I hate wasting my season ticket but I want to be around in future years to get a season ticket until I am just too old to attend.

Only way to get tickets now is if anyone is offering spares. Doubt I'll bother all season. It's a shame but membership isn't cost effective for me.

One Adult and one Child, each game in the Main Stand / Stephenson Lounge. I haven’t encountered any difficulty thus far in buying two tickets on my membership.

Sounds like you’ve really given up. I’m not young but I take each day as it comes. Anything could happen tomorrow and that would be the end of it all. So I just bash on. Go to games go to pub go to supermarket, tube, bus, restaurants, etc. Fair game to you though. Each to their own, but I am very glad I made the Tottenham game. You missed a really top match

I did wonder last season whether attendances might be affected when grounds reopened. Ticketing issues aside, I am sure there are a lot of people, particularly older ones, who are still uncomfortable mixing in large crowds. Some might not come back at all, having broken the habit of attending live football, whilst others may return in dribs and drabs when they feel more confident. However, looking around the ground last Saturday, yes there were a few patches of empty seats, but the stadium was still looking pretty full.

What I noticed at the Spurs match was a lot of much younger fans (in red and blue) in the Arfur. Edited by dreamwaverider (17 Sep 2021 4.28pm)

People have got out of the habit and the prices aren't going to lure the undecided back Over £50 in the Main Stand, and a lot of those seats have pillars in the way Palace won't do anything about the prices, they have already proved that they can survive without fans for a year

At the final whistle, you can go straight to bed, with 90 cans in your belly, plus £10 travel cost for a kebab, win win!

Sadly it reflects the shift from being fans and supporters to simply customers/ revenue streams. In very round numbers , the cost of a first tier match ticket has since 1980 increased by a factor of four as a percentage of average wage. There are lots of reasons but that is an increase many simply cannot afford. Edited by HKOwen (18 Sep 2021 12.47am)
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |
