Yes, agree with all the things posted on here, still only 28 so lets hope all works out for him, joins Mike Elwiss and kevin Mabbutt two excellent strikers, robbed from us by injuries, good luck Conor

Could never see the fascination with CW. Scored in fits and starts but never looked prolific to me. Great goal in the semi though. I wish him luck like everyone else but he has played so little in the last 3/4 years, you wonder if he will ever come back properly. Obviously, tome will tell.

I sincerely hope it works out for him and he remains fit and injury free. However history has shown injury prone players remain just that.

every time he started to show form, and with it some classy moves, he'd get another injury set-back. On the occasions that he did get back to near-full fitness, he was very competent at smashing the ball in the back of the net, something we've dearly missed in recent years. Sadly we didn't see enough of that though. Wish him all the best and I feel that we've now pushed past the need to buy mercenaries and damaged goods with our recent signings. Hopefully we won't see another in this mould for a few years yet.

Absolutely delighted to see the back of him. Bang average player who has been very unfortunate with injuries but who has been a drain on our club. Good riddance. Edited by EddieMac (14 Sep 2021 5.42pm)

No-one has mentioned his stunning header v Watford in the Wembley semi-final in 2016 that sent us through to the final. Take a look:

He was bought by Alan Pardew, who felt his fresh tattoos, glamorous girlfriend and footballers haircut was an improvement on balding grim Northerner Glenn Murray. Since that fateful August, 2015 day he has scored 13 goals in professional first-team football. Glenn Murray, who Pardew couldn't wait to bomb out to Bournemouth, went on to score 61. I never saw what the big fuss was about regarding Bentley-driving Connor Wickham, who seemed to possess all the shallow cliches of the modern professional footballer. We were warned by his former manager Martin O'Neill, who said Connor liked the idea of being a pro footballer more than actually being a serious one. A terrible buy that sums up the Pardew era because before that first season with us even concluded he was so mediocre we went out and embarrassingly signed Emmanuel Adebayor. He was never even fit enough to lace Glenn Murray's boots. Edited by tonymikejoe (16 Sep 2021 1.53pm)
