Something has to give – pretty much every public sector is chronically underfunded. Quite happy to pay an increase in tax – although the amount actually going to social care is tiny compared with what is being siphoned off for the NHS. Still, better than nothing.

I think it's great that people who've worked hard all their lives now won't lose everything if they end up in care, shouldn't have put it on N.I but maybe guarantee a part of V.A.T for it so that everyone contributed.

We live in a society where the disparity between the poorest and richest is growing larger and larger. Wages in real terms have been stagnant for over 10 years and are yet to recover from the last financial crash. Why then, can't we tax wealth instead of wages to better fund the NHS and Social Care? That or we can just use the £350mil a week Vote Leave promised to give to the NHS when we left the EU to plug this gap.

I hadn’t even read the details. I assumed all the talk was about care in the community. Turns out it’s nobody pays more than £86,000 for their care from October 2023.
