It all about opinions and having seen a fair bit of JRS he is nowhere near first team standard and to compare him to Ayew and suggest he should start in his place is just ridiculous.

Ayew and Benteke are both yesterdays news, Neiether god enough for the first team, never mind JRS, i would hope both to be offloaded in the January window, and the only way to find out if JRS is ready is if you play him, he might thrive he may not.

When Jes signed his contract with Palace it was on the understanding that he would be ' fast tracked ' into the first team squad. Obviously on the proviso that he would earn that selection. So far, so good. He's developing well and at a steady pace. He'll get his minutes, but the current squad is in a transition at the moment - new players, tactics and manager. Ayew has been playing out of position wide right where we know we have a requirement and maybe in time Jes will get a shot at that. His call up for England U20's is further recognition of his talent, but it's unfair to compare him with the likes of Rooney, Owen etc., who were truly outstanding players at that stage of their development. They are the exceptions, not the rule.

But we won't know whether RakSak is an exception to the rule if he doesn't get an opportunity to prove it. Hopefully he will get more game time as the season progresses.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Agreed, people who want to see Rak-Sakyi are pretty much going to get their wish sooner rather than later. An injury to either Wilf or Ayew now, or them just needing a rest and someone has to come in as cover. Olisse will likely take a while to fully come in to the squad too. I'm thinking Rak-Sakyi will come on as a sub in the next few games. We'll see if he's ready. I think he'll do OK, but wouldn't expect him to move the Earth.

Olise is currently training and I would expect him to be on the bench on Saturday or for Liverpool and likely to come off the bench before the likes of Rak-Sakyi (and I AM a Rak-Sakyi fan. It's just that Olise has proved himself to be a top Championship player whereas Rak-Sakyi is yet to prove himself in any of the men's professional leagues).

When I said '' exceptions '' I meant that those players could not be denied a first team place and they were definitely ready for first team football. I really don't see Rak Sakyi anywhere close to that level at the moment. With careful management I think he could play himself into some game time, maybe even a start....but not yet.

Just from recent injuries - suspect he may start to get minutes soon. I also suspect that Rak-Sakyi will be more used to our system over the next couple of matches. Simply from the length of time spent training etc. I agree Olisse will be ahead of Rak-Sakyi in the pecking order. I suspect we'll see both sooner rather than later.
