Bringing in as many players as we have hasn’t done them any favours but at some point we are going to get injuries and suspensions so maybe they will get a look in then. Still don’t understand why two or three of them didn’t start in the Carabao Cup against Watford.

After taking a good hiding from Sutton last night they’re clearly not ready for premier league football. Edited by monkey (01 Sep 2021 3.27pm)

These youngsters are not ready they need more experience against better players which this season in that league they should get. We may see the odd one appear from time to time due to how small the squad is (injuries and players leaving for international duty is very worrying)

Keep an eye out for Danny Imray a right back. Not featured much this season so far as he is returning from a bad ankle injury. Tony Gale who keeps in contact with Ray Lewington, saw him play for our under 23's last season and thinks he will be a top player. Hope its true and he eventually solves our right back problems. If Ferguson can also get fit, it looks very exciting
Played RB and RWB and was up and down the wing with purpose. He looked very promising in the 60 mins or so that I saw of him. Just our luck that he got crocked when he did.

Realistically, the majority of that group lost 3-0 last night to the team currently bottom of League 2. Hopefully the best few will get some League 1 loan deals in January and start to get some more experience, but I wouldn't expect large swathes of that group to be making up Premier League squads this season. Rak-Sakyi and maybe Hannam (due to a lack of competition) likely to be the only ones to be seen regularly, and more likely if we end up with a few no-pressure games towards the end of the season. It'll be good experience for that group playing U23s against a good standard this year, as well as Wimbledon & Portsmouth - the results already show they're challenging games for them.

Throughout the pre season Rak-Saki, has been the stand out, but even he had a very quiet game against Sutton. In the most part the rest are still some way off. If Hannam, ever had the form to be considered , right now he would struggle on a Div 2 loan. Banks, has been lauded but again recent form in the under 23s would suggest he needs shaking up even for a similar type loan. From what I've seen, we should definitely take a look at Rak-Sakyi, Boeteng, Hannam and, although no one is talking about him, Street. Just a personal opinion but Street has a big heart, engine and can do what we require of a no. 9. Rak-Sakyi is slick and technical plus fast - he can certainly come in on the wing. Roll on the FA Cup perhaps.

As is consistently shown when the U23's come up against the likes of Bromley, Sutton etc. That was the side of the game that younger players got regular exposure to back in the days of reserve team football.

I think we also have to trust in the new set up. PV has a good record for bringing through youngsters, and has specifically brought in Said Aigoun to help those kids ready for the first team. I have no doubt that they will come through when, and if ready. Buying Guehi and Olise is another statement that we are willing to give the kids a chance. In all seriousness though I think Rak-Sakyi's biggest blocker is going to be Olise. He is a year older, played a full season in the championship last year and got in the team of the year.
