Doesn't make Edouard sound like someone I'd like to see play for my Palace:

Nketiah all day for me. I seriously worry about anyone who plays in the Scottish league because of the lack of quality they come up against most weeks. I know there’s exceptions like Van Dijk but I worry we’ll end up with another Sorloth.

Based on his Old Firms game I think stay well clear of Eduardo.

Yes he is versatile but that's the attacking position he has least experience of and he is very very left footed. One thing we would likely see least of is more crosses into the box as he would be forever cutting in. When did Schlupp last play left back? Truly bizarre selection that in a back 4. Wing back is half possible but even that is a reach.

Edouard is a difficult one. Two years ago, roughly, we would have bitten someone's hand-off to sign him. Since then, it's all gone a bit wrong. His attitude appears to be poor but on the other hand, who knows what's gone on behind the scenes (although whatever has gone on doesn't excuse the way he's handled it)? What I would say is that every player is different; some need to be handled with kid gloves; some need strong management. Some players need a boss who drives them; others can self-motivate. The way Edouard's career has nosedived in the past two years reflects poorly on both Celtic management and on the player himself. Whatever the formula that works for getting the best out of Edouard, Celtic clearly haven't found it. I would say he's got a high ceiling (potentially a very good signing for us) but also a very low floor (potentially a disaster if he isn't happy and history repeats itself). Nketiah is arguably the kind of striker we need; mobile, nose-for-goal but the worries for me are first that he's a bit lightweight and the Prem is not a division for the faint-hearted and second, "big club" reserves tend to be wildly over-priced plus we shouldn't forget that there's a reason he hasn't really made the breakthrough yet (i.e. he's not been considered good enough). At the moment, the hype exceeds the reality by some distance if Arsenal are asking £20 million for him. While he's a different sort of player to Rhian Brewster, the similarity is the former is another big name, big club reserve whose big club in the end didn't think he was good enough to keep. And on the evidence, Liverpool were right. I don't want to pay millions to find out what Arsenal already know. If I'm honest, of the two I'd want neither or at least neither would by my first choice. Both of them represent risks; neither is anywhere near a sure-fire thing. If I had to choose, I'd probably lean towards Edouard for three seasons. 1. In Scotland or not, he has been a proven goalscorer and, generally, that's a skill that translates. Also, that is what we need. Nketiah might develop into someone who scores goals; Edouard (at his best) already does. 2. I trust the dressing room at Palace would sort out any attitude issues and I trust that we wouldn't sign him anyway if we didn't feel those could be overcome. 3. He has at least proven something in league football, whatever the league, whereas Nketiah really has not. At best, Nketiah is raw promise. At the right price, I'd take the gamble on Edouard. For me, the one "must" in any striker we sign, no matter where or which division we sign him from, is that he IS A PROVEN goalscorer. I don't think we have enough depth up front to risk millions on potential.

If any then I would think Nketiah might be a better bet, simply due to PV's connection with the Arse.

Yep, Nketiah for me too, if it has to be one or the other.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |
