Didn't we say this when Blitzer and Harris came on board, and look how that turned out. Why is this any different?
Blooms investment at Brighton is what Parish would do if he had that level of cash. Unfortunately he doesn't and so needs to bring others on board. Call me cynical but this worries me long term, because we all know they're only it to make some money.

It could be argued without the incumbent US investment, we wouldn't be in the Prem still so personally, I think this latest news is only positive.

Without the Americans loaning the money for the Allardyce transfer window we would’ve been relegated.

So having saved circa £65 mln on wages this season from players coming off contract and John Textor putting in £87 mln does that mean we still have £60mln odd to spend ? If so whoopee !!!!

We recently reported a loss of £60 mil. The previous year’s accounts were £30-£35 mil.

I understand that many will see this as positive, but I am concerned about the heavy weighting of American involvement in the club and indeed the Premier League.
Watching the Prime series it makes one nostalgic for the days of Steve Browett, a fan man and boy who genuinely loves the club.
I would hate the soul of the club to be lost and am concerned we will eventually just be another leisure brand or avenue to explore global media opportunities.

the bottom line is..parish, browett, hoskings & long were prepared to save & buy the club but (to my knowledge) wernt/not willing to fund PL losses.

we could not still be in the PL without outside investment, so its either admin in the championship or take outside investment in a company that loses money every year!

its not ideal, however it is what it is, are where we are!

The failure of people to grasp the economics of the Premier League and thinking money just grows on trees. The majority of income goes on wages, fueled by agents and clubs wanting success.
Without the Americans initial investment a few years ago and financing the Allardyce window, we would be where clubs like Bolton, Middlesborough, Sunderland etc are now, buried in debt with little hope of returning.
I am surprised nobody thought to question, where to vaunted £80m transfer budget, suddenly appeared from. Letting a few contracts of old players expire, doesnt raise that amount of money. Textor was first mentioned in June, but the noise went quiet. Bringing him in, can only be good for the club, it spreads the finacial burden and another wealthy investor, who has a stake to lose, if we dont succeed. One thing wealthy Yanks dont like is losing their investment.
