Indeedy! I"m glad she"s out, on a different subject wasn"t it great to see that gb girl yesterday winning the BMX cycle event with those tricks, bit off egg on the faces of the boc for ploughing all the money in to elite sports, oh well, they will be chucking money at bmx next time!

Athletics especially the sprinters get way too much funding versus their success.

Ok, i didn"t know that, but know the rowing teams got lots, and this BMX girl got sweet fa, and as hard as rowing might be on the arms, what would you rather see? Four people doing same strokes again and again, usually a bit samey until the gb team bloke forgot he was ment to steer , or a girl doing cartwheels on her bike with death a possibility if it goes teets up?

I do find it amusing that all the gobby culture war warriors who were frothing at the mouth that Hubbard was going to win the event easily and destroy all sports as we know it have been proven totally wrong.

Aside from that it was great to see Emily Campbell win GBs first medal in weightlifting since 1984!!

The whole episode stinks. I watched the competition, he (Hubbard) showed little intent to win. His 2nd lift looked good and his team could have appealed, nothing. Having failed for a 3rd time, he was not the least upset Publicity stunt? Possibly. How about the theory that by failing against women the IOC can say, no advantage was gained. Be prepared for more and more of this, women’s sport is on a rapidly downward spiral.
The IOC have decided to leave transgender participation up to individual countries. Wait for a team of transgender Chinese/Russians playing in the rugby

Until it screws us a result, in which case they will rapidly backtrack in time for the next Olympics. Whatever the social issues of the time, the impact of not acting would pretty much like like that of doping, in that it damages the integrity of the sport.

Yes, that's the funny thing about this Olympics. The sports I should I wasn't give a fig about were the exact ones I was almost spellbound by. Those bmx lot were something else. Shameful that some had to 'crowd fund' to even get there.

Indeed, I just caught it by chance, had no interest, until I saw what she did and had to tip hat!

It must be a difficult decision to choose who and what to fund. Its really about potential of winning a medal and formally rowing was great for us. Not forgetting that the host can choose not to include certain sports so years of investment could go down the swanny. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Partly that, and partly wanting to win the prestige events (why sprinters tend to get more funding). Let's hope that the BMX lot get access to funding next time around, since they've shown that they're world class in their field.
