How much pension do you reckon retired Premier League footballers receive, Becky? I have no idea, but pretty sure they make the biggest contribution to it from their own funds rather than taxpayers.

Reading the article, after having my morning coffee, it seems the speakers pension is different to a normal PS pension so just ignore what I said, except the last sentence Edited by Spiderman (20 Jul 2021 7.43am) agree the article is nonsense but MPs get much better pension benefits than a standard public sector pension. Reading the article it appears he can take if early without any penalty, which would not be the case with 99.9% of public sector employees. His package will be part of his t&c so he's not doing anything wrong. To me it just shows what great benefits we give our MPs on top of their salary

Bercow was an MP for a bit under 20 years and under the terms of his pension scheme he will have had the pension reduced for taking it early. I have a pension and plan to take it as soon as I can guess I must be a hypocrite to. And I have met Bercow a few times. He is actually far better company than most MP's
