Tom is pretty direct, which is cool. I think Comrades is more suitable for his style. Set up by a lefty but one of those rare libertarian lefties. I think you can count the bans on one hand. Though somehow Nick managed it. If you don't like a decision made by a moderator perhaps it's best to contact them directly rather than create a thread and attempt to make a song and a dance about it.

Perhaps the Politics forum should be locked every night after 10pm as that might save a few cards being issued. It must be well over a year since I last ventured into that forum but I had a quick look today to see what all the fuss was about and it took me 20 seconds using the search engine to find that the comment about "50 year old Carling drinkers will support Brexit" wasn't made by DanH at all but by SeagullHunter. It's a shame that Tom has been carded but you can't go round calling people a c@nt or tw@t as whilst management turn a blind eye to many of the forum's rules being broken the one about no personal abuse is sacrosanct
Many rules on sites are created to give a site a fall back when making a decision. They aren't created for precise enforcement everytime....mods interpret. How strictly rules are enforced determines the nature of that site, which in turn determines who comes to it. I have no problem with variation as it gives choice to people. Personally, I regard the less rules the better....exactly because of the 'jobs worth' situation where popular people are lost. That said, I understand that standards do mean something....yep, modding isn't easy. Edited by Stirlingsays (13 Jul 2021 11.16am)

Hopefully they will consider allowing him back, is a decent, funny poster. Did overstep the mark but was provoked ( we should all learn not to take the bait). HOL will be a poorer place without him I hope so. It did boil over on multiple fronts on that thread and we all found reasons to get riled up, but the rights or wrongs of it didn't fall with one individual. We all have our moments, but in the boxing thread recently Tom sought to calm one of my (inevitable!) covid rants, so it's not like he's a man on a war footing. In fact his humour draws plenty of light, much appreciated moments. Warnings maybe make more sense than straight to the nuclear option. Just my take. Edited by BlueJay (13 Jul 2021 11.32am)

Tom, you and I have been around long enough to know that the rule about personal abuse is fairly strictly enforced

I'm not attacking mods, my words have no undercurrent as I'm not that kind of guy. When I say I tip my hat to him and appreciate his time here it's at face value.
