In the late 1980's I had one of the first flying cars. It was a 1.3L Escort MK 2 estate. With me as pilot, the vehicle had 2 passengers and reached a take-off speed of around 60mph and were airbourne for a flight duration of approximately 0.3 seconds. Landing proved problematic, as we hit the tarmac, spun through 180 degrees and smashed backwards through a fence, into a farmers field of horses. A new door from the scrap yard and a bucket of filler, and we were back on the road, but never flew again.
