To be factual, which you seem to hold in such esteem, Hong Kong is not a "nation" and has no new found "sovereignty ". An easy to understand definition of sovereignty for your future reference is : The authority of a state to govern itself or another state. You go on to chide a poster with " you must have trouble reading simple English." This is ironic and indeed risible, bearing in mind you don't understand the definition of " sovereignty " and failed to use it correctly in what should have been a simple sentence.

Good to see a nation using its new found sovereignty after being under colonial control for so long. "Hong Kong to ban all flights from UK over Delta variant as Britain classified as ‘extremely high-risk'. The government said people who have stayed in the UK for more than two hours would be restricted from boarding passenger flights for Hong Kong"
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

I do understand. Are you clear now on the meanings of nation and sovereignty? As usual you seek to personalise when your errors are highlighted. Anyway, useful to have an expert Sinophile such as yourself to shed light on things Chinese. My highlighting your lack of understanding the meaning of words is to help you make better posts, to be fair there is a lot of room for improvement. Originally posted by Orange1290

You really can't understand a very simple news article. Twist it how you wish to please your imaginary view on life but you are only kidding yourself and those stupid enough to believe you. Good for the Hong Kong government to take the decision to protect the health of its citizens. The UK can learn a lot from this, especially in the light of the India trade deal debacle which allowed the Delta variant to pour into Europe via one of the busiest air corridors to the Indian subcontinent. Pivot as much as you want to the article, the content of which I have not disputed. It's your incorrect use and misunderstanding of the words nation and sovereignty that makes it difficult to take your opinions seriously with such a basic flaw in the use of English. That's why your criticism of someone else's ability to read English is so laughable. If English is not your first language I apologise for being critical on your use of the language.

Pardon my ignorance but I thought one of the reasons why people in Hong Kong have been protesting is that they believe the Hong Kong government are just a bunch of Quislings for the Chinese government. As Hong Kong is not a nation I assume that Peking is responsible for all external affairs. Just a thought.

The HK Government has the authority to deal with domestic issues such as immigration/arrival regulations. Whether are not some or all of these decisions are made solely within the HK Government framework or referred or Beijing for approval is unknown except by those directly involved. Hong Kong has completely different regulations around entry and working visas to PRC for example. Originally posted by Badger11
