After the way we treated Bats I don't expect Chelsea to do us any favours unless suits suits them.

I should think Chelsea are delighted with the way we treated Bats (which was pretty much the same way they themselves treated him). Along the lines of "those morons paid a loan fee for that useless lump. Love it. Who can we give 'em next season?" Being less sarcastic, it's not like Bats was one of their prime kids sent to us to get experience, in which case they might have been pissed off. He was an overpaid bad buy they were just happy to get out of their squad and off their books. As long as they weren't paying his wages, I doubt they gave a toss what we did with him.

We lose out on yet another quality young player who we had a realistic chance of persuading to come on loan due to the s*** state our club is in.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Legend. Real player.
I've found this, but cant remember the match. Probably pissed as I would have been 22 at the time and games normally involved drinking.

Great stuff. Yes, I was there. Newcastle maybe had the last laugh, as they won promotion at the end of the season, which was Kevin Keegan's last season as a player.

Were we interested in his services ?

Due to Chelsea's stellar squad, Gilmour never played a PL game last season and I believe played in only a handful the season before, so he was somewhat forgotten.

Possibly, but isn't Gallagher our main midfield target from Chelsea? Of course, this may change if the new manager isn't too impressed in him.

I readily admit I never heard a jot about any interest in Gilmour.

Apropos Gallagher, I wasn't overly impressed with his overall contributions at WBA.He is certainly no stranger to 'Yellows' !

Hardly surprising as we don't have a manager to give his input on who and what he wants
