He lost his man when Watford scored on Tuesday. The cross reached Fletcher at the far post and he was struggling to keep up.
The right place at the right time |

I agree. But unless we change formation and play Schlup as the left wing back he is our best left back and we should get behind him. Everyone makes mistakes. It is how you learn from them that matters.

It’s all about opinions. TM is not the finished article but will only get better through playing at this level. I read countless posts on here about giving the youngsters a chance and yet when we do many are quick to criticise. Give the lad a chance. That's it in a nutshell. Like the majority of young players, he's hit a dip in form. Whether or not it's partly down to the different playing style, I'm not sure yet.

I like and trust Mitchell, but he needs someone that helps him out when under pressure on the left side.

I like him and want him to be given the time to progress. The issue we have is both full back positions are vulnerable. Ward/Clyne I'm ok with as cover but neither should really be a full starter. Plus they're unlikely to improve through the season Mitchell clearly has room for progression and hopefully will given time. Unfortunately when paired together it does leave us exposed and you could probably point to them both being responsible for the late Watford goal (in addition to Schlupp for his woeful wayward pass).

He is 21, you would know by now if he was good enough or not and is not good enough at this level, most players who progress usually do it at a lower level

I thought Tyrick was great last season and was a better choice than PVA. We should cut him some slack and let him settle into the role.

I would agree that Fletcher went past Mitchell to score but it was Schlupps pass to a Watford player that setup the cross, Mitchell and Wilf were moving upfield to support the attack. After the pass Schlupp was nowhere to be seen when the cross came in unlike Andersen, Geuhi and Kouyate who were all marking each other around the penalty spot. Singling out Mitchell for the goal is a trifle unfair, he made many good interventions in the Brentford game but that doesn't fit the "Mitchell isn't good enough" mantra doing the rounds.

I’m not having Jairo in midfield, but the year before last when PVA was injured , he was brilliant at left back , got player of the month, then was dropped as soon as PVA was available.

Not only did Schlupp, set the situation up, but Ward, really should have got closer and prevented their player from getting to comfortable on his right foot and easily pick a perfect ball to the back post.

Last season we shouldn’t underestimate Gary Cahills influence and guidance which helped him massively with his introduction to the first team. This season he has 2 x new centre backs to get used to and a new style of play under PV. I’m confident he is the best choice for left back, give him time….
