No. I’m fine. The people who are p1ssed off are those who can’t live or retire on the cheap all year round in Spain. While I see their anger and frustration, it’s a selfish viewpoint and going to live cheaply abroad doesn’t stimulate the country they’re going to live in. They’re also living in a property that local people could own and probably inflating the property prices there as well.

FWIW you can’t really fvck up Lamb and the beef you buy will depend on what you want to pay, because again, this desire to have what you want and think you deserve for a price lower than is feasible is artificial and part of a deal to give away any say in your own country more and more as time goes on.

well, I stayed in Cyprus for a while and many Brits there voted for brexit and then moaned that they were caught not having registered there by the authorities after they had to check after brexit. Lots and lots who never knew what they were voting for. It's definitely more cost effective to live in many other European countries combined with a great quality of life but those seeking to take the UK with them by living in expats bars, streaming UK TV, looking for British food products in the supermarkets (they never, ever go into proper local markets) will fail after a short space of time. Seen lots of that everywhere, they simply can't/have no interest of integrating, never learn any of the local language and then slate the EU and the local country out of frustration. Hilarious! Leaves a lit more space for the rest of us who make an effort! Of course having an EU passport helps a lot

How can Australia export beef and lamb to the UK - the transport costs surely make it impossible to be competitive.

Didn’t we always import NZ Lamb?

Let me assure you the vegetable/fruit pickers who are still arriving daily from Eastern Europe and the Ukraine are definitely not earning £20ph, my wife has sight of their contracts. It is true that accommodation ( haha) costs are taken out of their earnings.
Farmers insist on workers living on the farm, even is they live locally. My son and girlfriend tried very hard to find this type of employment last year, the few farms that bothered to reply insisted on living on site, as his girlfriend suffers with severe anxiety, this was never an option but they could easily have travelled every day

You'd be surprised. Their cost of production is a lot cheaper due to a lot lower welfare standards imposed. You can also fit a lot of vacuum packed meat on one haulage flight.

I don't think imported meat from Australia will go down here with our consumers, who are becoming more aware of these practices.

I don't think there will be enough demand here, you can't force people to eat what thy don't want.

You would think Australia would be at the front of these and green matters, in fact they are woeful.

Consumers buying in shops will have the choice, but there will be plenty in catering and hospitality who will be happy to lower their cost base, especially if buying in bulk, and not many restaurants are conscientious enough to state where their produce has come from (although a lot of places are very good with this now).

Yes, but a quality product filling a seasonal gap. Not sure Australian farms produce the same - not sure I've ever had it.

Isn't better pay for working people a good thing for those with left leaning views.

Previously it was a very low paid job open for exploitation involving people trafficking and modern slavery.

The likes of Tesco's might have to pay more for fruit and veg, whilst completion from Aldi and Lidl will keep prices pegged down.

It is strange how the government states we will not drop our food standards post brexit.

Everybody automatically assumes, in that case, and correctly, that we will!

For Brexiteers this is an opportunity to show that we are better alone, and they were completely right.

All they have to do is to report and pick the fruit and veg the nation needs, themselves.
