As always I will be wanting Wales and Scotland to win when playing other countries than England. Sadly it doesn’t work the other way for them wanting us to win :-( Hopefully Wales can get the win today which should put them through before they play Italy? As for Scotland, can’t see them beating anyone in their group after losing to the Czech’s and wasting so many chances to get a result in their favour?

I enjoy our UK neighbours getting stuffed, what's sauce for the goose...

Since Nicola Sturgeon started her persistent and frantic efforts to break up the United Kingdom, I've come to loath all things Scottish. Even their whisky. And I love whisky. So I certainly hope they get knocked out quickly.

My wife was born in Wales so there is a lot of support for all things Welsh in our house, even their whisky. As much as I'd like to see them do well I can't see them getting through their group. Especially without our Wayne in goal!

I'm hoping England do OK, but even they have a certain arrogant 'we're the greatest team here' air about them that grates a bit.

In the end we all want to see some decent football. Not much of that yet.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Having lived in Scotland for the last four years I haven’t found the people as anti-English as they’re portrayed. In our local there’s a bit of, let’s say, teasing but it’s good natured.
The only time I noticed anything was when the rugby was on and the governor asked me when I’d wear a Scotland shirt. I said when he wore an England one and a bloke at the bar who I hadn’t seen before said “I wouldn’t wipe ma erse on an England shirt”
I said “Good. We don’t want you to”.
He wasn’t happy but swallowed it when he realised I was a foot taller than him and twice as wide.

I sort of have a soft spot for Wales due to my heritage. My family moved to London before I was born for work.
I kind of enjoy watching them, remind me of an international version of Palace! A superstar surrounded by average hard working players.
That said international football for most is a chance to watch a better quality of football and watch a team that has a chance of success, obviously don’t get that with the Welsh.
Normally more palace players in the squad than England though!

bcos it's like watching The Big Match Revisited. The team play of the Swiss and the Czechs compared to our celtic cousins was on another level - the Scots and Welsh could harry and get the ball in quick and hope a ricochet landed kindly so got the odd shot or two, but their set up and approach looks about thirty years out of date, esp the Scots, who have half a dozen decent players but some straight out of Motherwell's reserves (Lyndon Dykes??? hello!) Or am I exaggerating or being unkind?

Maybe change this title to just Scotland

Well done Wales!

They ran their socks off and played tremendous football. But, boy did they miss some chances, and Bale missed a penalty. He made up for it though.

Fine win and should now be through to the knockout stage

yes indeed, they played very well, I underrated them on the Swiss performance, but their style is a bit 'push and run', but when it's Bale and Ramsey running after it it's probably not a bad strategy! And if David Brooks can't get into their side that's a good sign, can't get past Allen and Morrell but they're there to protect the defence and break up play. James was good too, but there was a point when a guy overlapped on the right wing and over hit a cross so badly, they often have five or six top players but a few lower league plodders in support, Scotland have five or six decent players and then it's Kilmarnock reserves. I was unfair to Wales but I'm looking forward to a 7-0 humiliation of Scotland.

So the Ticketless Tartan hordes have come south police estimate about 20,000. Not a peep from Nicola Sturgeon who the other day was slamming the government for not closing our borders.

Apparently she is quite happy to turn away a fully vaccinated cruise ship but has no problems with thousands of Scots not socially distancing and never even going to the game or a fan zone.

Well if the infection rate jumps back in the Auld country we know who to blame.

C'mon England.

PS when they go back any chance they can take some of their London Scottish tribe.

I’ve spoken to two people who are coming without tickets who’ve never been to London before and mentioned in passing that their beer was going to cost nearly twice what they’re used to paying. Neither believed me but I expect the first barman they meet to be met with incredulity.

Serves them right, they’ll be going home with no money and no points

I remember when Scotland tried to 'take' London in 96. If, by London, they meant the fountain in Trafalgar Sq, hemmed in by tens of thousands of England fans and a thin line of police for their own safety, they were successful.
