The politics of the Republic is so toxic i cannot blame any Orangeman for wanting to avoid a United Ireland.

The Orangemen are a minority. And a shower of c*nts to boot.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

As an example of Westminster's calamitous history regarding NI, I saw Peter Taylors program the other night.

The Thatcher Anglo-Irish agreement.

Need one say more, the Ulster Unionists watching helplessly as they are completely frozen out by HM govt.

Result near civil war as the Ulster Unionists embark on their own murderous campaign against the republicans, as they have been 'sold out to Dublin'.

Looking at the room with Thatchers beaming smile, there isn't anybody who doesn't have the look of 'what the f**k are we doing' on their faces.

Exactly, they make Britain appear completely competent.

The new NI Prime Minister hasn't lasted too well, has he.

4 weeks to be exact, of course rave reviews in the tory 'mighty union' press at his appointment.

Looks like Sinn Fein could well win the next election there.

SF will be the biggest party. The problem is that a coalition of DUP/UUP/TUV is not allowed vote for first minister. This is where it will go mental.

SF are also almost 100% guaranteed to win the next Irish election too over the corruption etc previously pointed out.

What you don't fight for you lose.

It's a very old saying but one that transcends time and history.

Now I'm sympathetic to the arguments that the British shouldn't be in Ireland.....frankly, once it wasn't turned British hundreds of years ago the whole concept should have been abandoned and the British relocated.

But as ever the half way house prevailed and so the problems were simply stored up for descendants.

I have Ulster family and they feel betrayed by the British....They are right, the British decided they didn't want to fight for NI and took the coward's way with an agreement that anyone but an idiot could see would lead to an eventual united Ireland.....I give it twenty years.

I can't deny that this is probably the right conclusion if you weren't going to take the gloves off with the IRA....Ireland is for the Irish.....The British in Ireland need to come back or just mentally convert...the genetic difference between the native Irish and British is basically zero.

However, it's another example of impotency and weakness in the modern British....just nihilists and consumers who only believe in their mortgage. The point is well made that a country that won't even defend its own heritage and create a sustainable future for its children can hardly be expected to defend its own questionable past conquests.

ah now, hold on a second.

The Vikings who came to England were mostly Danish.

The Vikings raping & pillaging Ireland were mostly Norwegian.

The shortest point of distance between Ireland and Britain (if you ignore NI) is 13 miles.

22nd June 1921 , King George opened up the Ulster Parliament at Stormont. The King attempted to get the parliament up and running.

100 years later ? the parliament seems to be still crocked.
