Congratulations Roy, I don't believe in the honours system period but that's another discussion.

Congratulations Roy. Your CBE is great recognition of the 45 years service to football. Well deserved. Take no notice of the loathsome haters who try to spoil the party. Bringing up one poor episode in your career is so trvial. Anybody would think they never get things wrong at work sometimes. And another thing. Congratulations too to Geoff Thomas for being awarded the MBE.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Apart from maybe 3 tournaments England haven’t lived up to expectations since 1966, that’s a lot of tournaments and a lot of managers that have struggled with the national team. It’s a joke to judge him on that.

An unusually well-merited gong for Roy, after all he is not a tory donor or wealthy land-owner. He has done a great job for us too, so it is a double whammy.

I can think of no one better than Roy to command the British Empire for us. (I presume he will do it while kneeling?)

You recognise that political parties give them get them for cronyism, but fail to comprehend that Hodgson is a part of the footballing establishment that have failed this country time after time purely so they could feather their own nest. Mercer, Revie, Greenwood, Taylor all got honours despite failing deliver. McLaren will get one next
