People need to work or travel back to their original countries so not sure what you are getting at the world still has to continue not every one can stay in a bubble like yourself.

You have missed another big point not all countries was soft touch Britain Thailand when I went was strict just the embassy alone was a lot of work then once you are their you are greeted by military keeping people separated i spend over 2 hours in airport you are then put on buses which take you to hotels you will have to stay in you cant leave your room for 2 weeks (at the airport they took another test sample and temp)

Now I know some will say rapid tests they are a joke the pcr test is not 100% they are around 80% (still a poor test many factors why) the rapid tests uk use are 30-40% (Thai do have a form of rapid test but it still takes 4-6 hours and is done by blood test this is 70%)

There have been many people travelling for purposes other than business/returning to home country... fact. You have complained about U.K. handling of the pandemic but condone people supplying forged test results, how hypocritical of you.
It would have been interesting to see how arriving passengers, like yourself, would have reacted had they been met at Heathrow by the army and transported directly to hotels for 2 weeks? Mmm let me think!
Not discussing this with you anymore on this thread as it should not be hijacked, given the topic

It showed the system was broken and as stated it was a big money making scam to begin with.

Regarding the fraud tests I stated I understand not that I agree with it which is why I didn't do it.

Two people I know that had done the fraud both had been tested on NHS and showed as clear but you can't use this so why should they then have to pay out £120+ for template and test which is only worth £20 max anyway.

What are you on about that is what Thailand did at the beginning which I chose to do I knew it in advance and paid the high flight plus hotel fees also knew full well had to stay in the room for 2 weeks.

I understood that you were talking about Thailand and maybe that was the correct approach. There is no way the PC/HR brigade would have allowed that to happen in the U.K., that was my point

I have been on the vulnerable list due to age and medical history and have been advised not to go outside but I contracted covid a year ago and didn't even notice.

I lost my sense of taste for a couple of days but this was before it was known to be a symptom and I just put it down to age.

I assume that I caught it from my (much younger) wife who is a nurse and in contact with covid for much of her working day. She had an antibody test last year which was positive so she must have also had covid without realising it

My daughter did a PCR test at Boots in Bromley when she flew here last. She did the test Friday morning and the result arrived on Saturday afternoon - about noon I think.

It arrived on her phone (if my memory serves me correctly).

Apologies that I may get some of that wrong - but the point is - try Boots because the timescale seems to fit with what you need.

Boots didn't offer the fit to fly service which most countries would accept. (They was not cheap either)

Still good info things may of changed since I last checked few months ago

Thanks, I was thinking of them but they don't do it where I'm going. I've ordered a 24 hr turnaround home test. Let's hope it all goes to plan.

My mother died last week of cancer. She was born in the Holmesdale Rd of all places, so you can imagine how Palace we all are. God rest her soul.

Anyway, I'm coming over for the funeral which is at the end of the month.

The question I have is that I need a PCR test and fit to fly cert before I can come back to Ireland. It has to be within 72hrs of returning (I know ridiculous). I won't have the car, I'm flying. So I was thinking of buying the home testing kit, getting it sent to where I'm staying, registering it there, testing myself and my missus, sending it off and, hopefully, getting the results in the required time frame.

Has anyone got any particular providers who are any good - or rubbish that I bed to avoid? They all seem to be around 100 quid - which I can't avoid. Just looking for tips on who might be good or bad.

I know there are a few globe trotters on the site so thought I'd ask.
Thanks.

Sorry to hear that mate, mine went last week as well of the same thing,I used to think you and I were going through the same thing so strange they both went the same time.
