Around a fiver, can be more or less. I pay 4.20. We have no 'spoons.

Those are cheap pints in Ireland. Last I was over in Croydon, I thought it was really cheap. Spoons and a couple of other places. I was in The Ship for a while, funny characters in there.

You ever drink the guinness mate? Yes, the ship has always been a place for cults and arty types, mohicans and goughs, not a bad place at all.

I used to always drink Guinness, but I change every so often. Guinness has a nasty stomach effect the morning after. Kind of comes out just the same as it went in.

I went up on the coach, my mate pulled out last minute so went anyway, was 14, 3 coaches pulled up at stanley park, you could see goodison park across the way, but there was something more interesting, a 100 a side football match going on. Someone on our coach said,"its true they love there footy here, look at how many on each side". We all got off, kids, oap"s, old ladys, and the coaches pulled off. That was when the football lovers turned round to a man, and came hurtling at us, we were outnumbered and out gunned, and ran for our lives down cobbled streets , towards anfield although i had never been there,as we approached another cobbled street, a mob of another 200 were waiting, the ambush was on, i was near the back with the football playing mob breathing down my neck, the palace in front were going down like skittles, including the old ladys, there was screaming and howling, i looked forward and nobody was standing up, i had the 200 coming for me, i turned and looked behind and the football playing mob were about 20 feet behind, my head looked right, left, right left, then i noticed the front door of the terrace house, no garden coronation st styly, was ajar. I ran in and closed the door, i could hear a lady in the kitchen talking to her daughter, i hid behind the sofa.Suddenly, the door started knocking, bang, bang, bang, bang, the lady went to the door, but popped her head in to the "empty " room and said, "don"t worry love, you stay put, the same thing happened v man utd last week! She opened the door and there were hundreds outside, "get the cockney out here", they said. She told them to go away or they will miss the match, they did, but the door knocked again and another palace lad who had taken a beating came in to, we walked to the ground but ended up behind the Kop end, not talking obvs, that lady was literally a god send! Ended up losing 3-0, missed my cousins wedding for it in west croydon. Turned up at about 11 with programme in hand and me in tact, all palace my family, they thought it was funny i went to Liverpool instead of his big day, but how often did we get the chance to go to the mighty anfield back in the day?

Remember it well, went up on coach 2,with two mates only 14 at the time big Dave and Nigel the photographer, parked on the far side of Stanley park, cant remember going to the ground but certainly remember the journey back, we didn't know whether to go through the park or round it, decided to go round the park, didn't have any colours on and didn't speak because of accent, all of a sudden a bloke about 35 turned round and smashed my mate in the face, we legged back to the coach, blood pouring from his nose, when we got back his parents took him to Mayday he had a broken nose, he never went to Palace again, happy days

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn

Ha, thats a lot of guinness! Have you had a pint from the Dublin brewery or pubs around? Does it taste better or is that a myth? Remember as a kid getting the train from Dublin to Roscommon, all the trains lined up pulling guinness tankers, just like petrol tankers but black with the guinness logo firmly showing, going down country!

Yes, it was brutal, the kid who knocked the house door after i went in saw my post here a few years ago and said it was him. Shame about your mate not coming again, same thing happened to me, Took a neighbour who supported us to a Brighton at home game, when they took about 50 coaches down, all lined up in whitehorse lane. My neighbour was a couple years younger than me, I was about 14, anyway, there was carnage in the whitehorse, surging and bedlam going on as palace were in there to, he saw it and started crying, i told him to pull himself together, but few people around told me to take him home, i did, nice kid , just wasn"t expecting to see mayhem at a football game, he never went again.

Yes, had a pint in Dublin's oldest pub and one where the pints are straight from the brewery. They were nice. I'm not in Dublin much though these days. I'm over the other side of the country. Guinness is nice in pretty much all of Ireland and sh1t everywhere else. Once you drink it here, you'll never drink it abroad.
Murphy's is bigger in Cork though, and not bad. I'd say there's less drinking in Ireland than there used to be, they seem to want to shut down pubs, frankly. A government economist blamed pubs for Covid last week. Despite the fact they've been shut for a year. There were complaints but no apologies.

Bit like here mate, pubs shut everywhere, they will be road pricing there next, people won"t be drinking or driving, like here.(not drink driving before some wit says it).
