I reckon 400 billion makes your question a bit mute. The most generous help given to its citizens compared to almost every other nation. Purchasing millions of vaccines in the hope it will keep its citizens safe including you and yours. The answer is dont go abroad unless you have to. There is a difference between want and need. Do you not think there is a bit of physcology in play here. The UK isn't desperate for tourists like Cyprus so of course it will be cheaper. Have you considered the Maltese people may be having to pay towards cheaper teats because the government want to attract said tourists. I reckon hmg cares for you and your ma a bit more than you wish to admit to but it doesn't fit your teeth knashing hate of the government.

Very commendable mate, if i start up my own party i"m asking you to be my deputy, you constantly defend your party, the member for medway is a loyal serpant! What about those people here, white british for example, who can"t afford a holiday in Devon or the Lakes, and just wants a week in the costa del sol, to save money, why should they pay 5-10 x the actual cost of a test?

What gives anyone a divine right to travel abroad because "they need a break". To places where this evil disease is still rife and potentially bring it back, so infecting innocent people and maybe killing a few; which I might add gives you a buzz to mention. Bearing in mind you cannot stop bleating about our death rate I would think money and holidays would be bottom of your priority to defend people about. So yes the serpent will defend the party against stupid remarks and arguments.
BTW many people can't actually afford holidays ever so I don't feel sorry for someone who has to pay for a test to go on holiday for a jolly up.

I think our wonderful nhs staff might deserve a week in the sun mate, to a green zone, safe country, boris approved so to speak! And as for people not affording a holiday ever, maybe if we upped the minimum wage, instead of trying to abolish it like your pal domonic rabb wanted, everybody would be able to afford a week away, bliss!

It was mentioned by others that if an opportunity to have a pop at hmg arises you take it and hey presto here we are. Survival when you have a family is more important than a holiday. Minimum wage or not. I thought nurses were badly paid but clearly not as they can all afford a holiday apparently. The reason you have dough is you never left home. 20 quid a week and all your washing will clearly keep you in clover or anyone for that matter.

The people in Cyprus have been very well looked after, same in Malta according to my work colleagues there. They have a similar system of 'furlough' in place, businesses are also being looked after except those who have been breaking the law in various ways. Germany has always had the best unemployment support, 18 months on full pay during the time you are unemployed and helped to find similar employment. As well as local budgets to support their citizens, these countries also get help from the €750 billion EU covid support fund to supplement the locally managed covid support budgets. On top of that, a €1.8 trillion covid recovery fund has been agreed for the members of the bloc. Self employed are also being supported unlike the 3 million who apparently 'fell through the net' in the UK. So, just to put things into perspective, countries are being supported based on their core economies. The UK may not be 'desperate' for tourists but the country is desperate for investment which all but dried up since 2016 and much of that was diverted into the Eurozone, hence the strengthening Euro and weakening GBP. Even the ECB has been using QE to hold back the Euro from appreciating further as it's a safe haven currency and a the bloc continues to be a magnet for huge foreign investment.
