Got it in WHSmiths in Streatham(opp Odean) upstairs where you could listen in the booths

Absolute classic.

As an aside, my mate (a funeral director as it happens) "claimed" Charlie Drake in our Fantasy Death League one year. I hadn't heard he'd died but trusted my mate and gave him the points. Just over a year later I heard a radio advert saying that Charlie Drake was appearing in Panto in Chichester. My first real experience of the equivalent to online scamming today.

Charlie Drake has now died, sadly.

Back on topic, my first 45 was Shapes of Things by the Yardbirds. Had to choose between that and Green Tambourine by the Lemon Pipers.

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

I was certain you were going to ask if you could name your first 78 instead !

Spookily though, Green Tambourine was also my first 45 - bought it from a long gone record shop near Bromley South station

It's long been appreciated that we are indeed men of impeccable taste.

Pretty bloody bad, yes. I shouldn't have told the truth. Lucky my taste has massively improved. Just finished listening to the best of the Venga Boys.

One of the newer New Seekers (who must be quite old now as new seekers go) played rugby for the Old Midwhitgiftians in Sanderstead.

In case you're ever asked.....

My first 45 was Glad all Over by Palace's FA cup Final squad in 1990. I was 13 and bought it from Our Price music shop in Bexleyheath.
I actually own Dave Clark Five's version on single cd which I find for 50p at a music fayre some 15 years ago.

I do now own a lot of original Beatles first edition singles now incl Magic Mystery Tour EP.

No, what's sad is I'm a blubbering wreck every time that plays and the bunny wabbit floats up to bunny heaven at end of Watership Down!

Caroline by the Quo, 1973 ish.

Funny thing is I don’t (and didn’t) particularly like Status Quo.
