As an aside, my mate (a funeral director as it happens) "claimed" Charlie Drake in our Fantasy Death League one year. I hadn't heard he'd died but trusted my mate and gave him the points. Just over a year later I heard a radio advert saying that Charlie Drake was appearing in Panto in Chichester. My first real experience of the equivalent to online scamming today. Charlie Drake has now died, sadly. Back on topic, my first 45 was Shapes of Things by the Yardbirds. Had to choose between that and Green Tambourine by the Lemon Pipers.

Spookily though, Green Tambourine was also my first 45 - bought it from a long gone record shop near Bromley South station

One of the newer New Seekers (who must be quite old now as new seekers go) played rugby for the Old Midwhitgiftians in Sanderstead. In case you're ever asked.....

My first 45 was Glad all Over by Palace's FA cup Final squad in 1990. I was 13 and bought it from Our Price music shop in Bexleyheath. I do now own a lot of original Beatles first edition singles now incl Magic Mystery Tour EP.
