I think the exam results are out in the next few days. There are a number of articles in different papers about record numbers of students dropping out of university. This is the (COVID) group that were awarded A levels based on their teachers expectations rather than exam results. At the time someone on here predicted that if they were too generous these kids would struggle at University and probably drop out with a load of student debt, it appears to be the case. I am half expecting there will be a class action lawsuit against the education department by these students, "your teacher made me go to Oxbridge when actually I was a thickie. " Lets hope some commonsense comes back into the marking. I posted the starter but Becky put a beautiful scenario in the 2nd post which has or will invariably come true. Wasn’t it Labour jumping up and down about hmgs algorithm against teachers marks. I wonder who was closer.?

My Son gets his A Level results on Thursday - he has a provisional place at Uni subject to getting the right grades / appropriate number of UCAS points. I know he has worked hard over the last couple of years & I do want to see him duly rewarded - At the moment for us its fingers crossed & hopefully everything goes OK.

Thanks Teddy - Will let you know come Thursday. That's good. I'm glad I went to school before there was so much pressure. No one I knew went to university - maybe we were all as thick as mince but I don't remember anyone even mentioning it as a possibility.

None of the lads I grew up with did either, we either got apprenticeships, joined the armed forces or found work that didn't require exams until they found their direction. Originally posted by Teddy Eagle

Thanks Teddy & Cryst - Just picked up the results for my Son, His 2 - A levels = "B" & one BTEC = "Distinction" so that is a total of 128 UCAS points, he needed 120 to go to his first choice Uni - So relieved at this end (Proud Dad moment) - going to be a small celebration. Hope others have similar outcomes.
