They showed clips on the big screen at the Whitehorse just after Big Mal passed away, with cigar, Fedora and Fiona Richmond, the karate kick as well, it tops the lot - I started supporting Palace in early '73 and it went downhill straight away, that cup run was part of the big turn around, and we played great football in those games. v Southampton Jim Cannon says the team just froze a bit rather than blaming defeat on Peter Taylor being nobbled, would have been an amazing final v Man U - such a shame.

Leeds and Sunderland away were great trips and great games. I always remember Sunderland being absolutely freezing with the cold wind coming of the North Sea.

Without that cup run Malcolm Allison would largely be just remembered for taking us from Div.1 to Div.3.
