What a night that was. I went there with my mates from ashburton high school. Didn't get home until 3 am even though my mum said I couldnt go. None of went to school the next day but our form tutor Mr Shaw who was a scouser was well cool with it 😁
I don't need to sell my soul...he's already in me.

Just browsing through the forum and came across this , brought back some memories . Went up on the special with some mates , it was mayhem in our end . The game itself was just a blur . But yes as vespa says it was silly o'clock when we got back to London and I dont think there was night transport in them days ,I just dont remember how I got back to Purley where I lived at the time .

Just landed on the board, great reading about the old days, remember this one vividly, was in the pub on the corner of the ground before the game chatting to the locals and all was welcoming and friendly. Got beckoned in again after the game by a very angry Taffy and his mates, the four of us declined his offer, discretion being the better part of valor.

Good to see this footage. Great result for us. How different a game of football looked then. I'd been married 6 years - seems like a lifetime ago. I expect it was for some of you!
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

aahh Wrexham away..bunked off school with bro to catch train up from Euston. Strangely had a youngish Wrexham fan in our 'dog carriage ' who sat next to us at the earlier fixture at Palace, he assumed he could use our special to get there n back, although he left his scarf on and received a kickin round the back of Euston by some spurs lads..kept his mouth zipped up for most of journey...remember town ctr being almost 'covid deserted' during afternoon....epic match can still see me in footage jumping up on surge barriers when we scored..'laced up boots n cordouys' rashid harkouk came to the recue...colourful career he had....my status had never been higher when i walked into school the next day...
