That lineup is a recipe for disaster. I am normally very positive but I can feel a bad beating coming here.

Newcastle will be hugely buoyed by their excellent and unexpected win today.
If we suffer a "Bad beating", indeed any beating today, there will be a real gulf between the confidence levels of both teams and Newcastle will be favourites to record another win.

Eze and Ayew wasted out wide again and two man midfield, or is it one and a half with Luka in there. Is Jimmy injured? We'll miss him

Let's keep the ball this season!

That's how I viewed but like someone else said, could easily convert to 4-2-3-1 with Bats up top and either Wilf or Eze behind with the other back on the left.

Would have preferred Mitchell to PVA but maybe there's a different intent in approach (i.e. Palace playing on the front foot like against United earlier in the season) or Roy has seen something in training from PVA that shows that he's improved on his positional play

This is Roy he doesn't mix it up the only way we would see that is if the players do as they have before given up on Roy style and switched to their own thing.

Just look at the names you can see it is of already Wilf is not a striker Eze and Ayew are players that play best in that spot behind the striker Bats has shown he cant play up top by himself.

The old 4-3-3 was much better system with two of the 3 up top moving to the wings in attack and defense its just we need a creative player in the 3 midfielders which we dont do

Can't help but think that Croydon Roy is now randomly pulling out names from a hat hoping they'll fit his beloved 4-4-2

It could easily be 4-3-3 with Eze as playmaker in midfield, just wait and see.

Other than being club captain I see no reason why Luka starts; when was his last rally good game? 2019? Fair play giving Bats a start after his goal. If he doesn't take his chance we have Mateta waiting. I wouldn't have gone with PvA, but he is a player who is always desperate to play so he may show some fight knowing Mitchell will come back in if he doesn't. He definitely needs to get much tighter on Traore this time.

The team were sh!t on Tuesday and Roy has responded whether we agree with the selections or not. For me Jairo should have replaced Luka, but other than that I think he has allowed players to come in and show what they can do.

Who knows. Perhaps we will all be back on here at 4:55 praising Roy's inspired team selection ??
