The US had an agenda she was going to swerve justice, by instigating Diplomatic Immunity after the event. Something the UK seemed complicit with, in assisting her leave the UK. She'll probably get a 12 month driving ban (back-dated), which would then free her to continue working in the UK again, with no pending prosecutions, just points on her licence.

Sacoolas has admitted causing death by careless driving via videolink at The Old Bailey She will be sentenced at the end of November. However, this has the potential to give rise to allegations of politics and the judicial system collaborating. I am just speculating from my own perspective, that if i were the presiding judge (with no political influence),.. However, methinks that the Justice system has been politically knobbled, and she will pay a huge fine to the Dunn family (paid by the US Government) and trot off into the distance. Any other thoughts ?

I think you have summed it up nicely. It's clear to me a deal has been done and the sentencing has been made part of that deal. The judge is there just to rubber stamp what the politicians have already agreed. My guess no jail time or maybe a few weeks in a soft US jail "Club Fed". It stinks.

Not from me, good summary and I share that which has been suggested. 'She drove on the wrong side of the road for 20 seconds' - That's not dangerous driving really it's just f**king idiocy. Expect nothing less from the yanks however should not exempt you from legal proceedings. Imagine if she were Iranian for instance and fled there. All fits in to a lot of negative US stereotypes for me which perhaps do not disprove my prejudices. Thick, arrogant and unerringly self-obsessed.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

I am not trying to justify this but when a lorry driver rams into stationary traffic killing people and get a slap on the wrist then the Sacoolas case goes way below that one and the many others I and presumably others have read. I think she should be punished and in the UK.
Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course). |
