UK Farmers have been subsidised for far too long. EU Policy made it more viable not to use land (set-aside) than to actually produce stuff.
And the c-units don't even pay inheritance tax on their farms. They were massive money laundering systems

Now farmers are rushing to sell land for housing projects.

I shed no tears for farming folk.

I was just going to say, if Somerset is anything to go by, the problem of soil erosion will be irrelevant soon as all the farmland will have been built on......

Small farming is doomed. Animal grazing on hills is doomed. But that’s ok because all farmers are c units. Watch the land change and the quality of food dwindle. Then come back and tell us the farmers deserved a spanking. A completely ill informed and prejudiced post that ignores the realities.

Farming is now officially a public good. Think centralised State control. And be very afraid

Still, it’s such an easy life

In the last ten years, almost one person a week has been killed as a direct result of agricultural work. Many more have been seriously injured or made ill by their work.

Second most dangerous occupation in the country.

Agriculture and farming - 8.44 deaths per 100,000 workers.

Nearly 20 times more dangerous than the all industry figure.

Working farms are exempt from inheritance tax to prevent them being broken up. It isn’t a fiddle but it can be used by the super rich. Scottish land ownership is primarily through offshore trusts. Watch that accelerate as real farming is emasculated and replaced with shoots, and not the green types.

It’s really time people woke up. Watch the video to understand both the danger and the opportunity. Or read James Reebanks blogs.

Do I remember correctly you once saying your daughter farmed or have I imagined that?

Currently broiler poultry. Also regularly sheep and pigs. And last year fresh produce.

She tried dairy for a short while but goodness what a stench.

It’s all good fun as I also have a son who is vegan.

I noticed the government is going to ban the live export of farm animals. I think this is a good start I would also like to see any subsidies to farmers linked to better animal welfare.

we have a real opportunity here to lead the world with compassionate farming.

there is a lot of farm land near me.
One plot inparticular, either side of Long furlong is quiet beautiful, sheep, cows in the fields & stunning when the sun is coming up / going down.

From what I've heard on radio 4 & 2 talk spots, the farmers seem pleased to have left EU?
