My concern is losing PVA on a free when we could have got maybe 20-25 mil last season. I have seen Alonso ply his trade at left-back and left wing-back but not in a back three.

Alonso played well as long as he was younger. He was never a dedicated runner helping the defence but compensated with skill in attack. He is over 30 now and slower than ever. Will flop at any team he goes to. And take his paycheck, which is huge. Really wouldn't suggest him. I'd rather have had 37 year old Holebas than him. And trust me, Holebas isn't among the first on my priorities

When he played against WBA he was shockingly slow. Some guy went past him at twice the pace. He was dropped after that game and I doubt if Mourinho ever picks him again in the league.
