Difficult and if you go back further England had a constant supply of top goalies.

They got knocked about and a maximum wage of £20 per week.

Bert Williams - Wolves and England.

Colin McDonald - Burnley and England.

Ron Springett - Sheff Wed and England.

Reg Matthews - Coventry and England.

Must be plenty more, can't think of a palace one although Nigel Martyn may have played a few times.

I recall Gil Merrick who played nearly 500 games for Birmingham and went on to manage the club.

I'd say Southall would have to be right up there.

Schmeichel too... Not sure about others though.

Goalie is probably one of the most important positions on the field. They're all important but a confdent goalie will give your defnce an edge and a greater confidence too.

Unfortunately unfairly remembered for picking the ball out of his own net 13 times in 2 games against the 'Magical Magyars' Puskas etc.

Vic Rouse - I think we were in 4th Division when he played for Wales.

Bill Glazier - outstanding, sold to Coventry for 35k!

John Jackson - kept Palace in the Premiership.

Both Glazier and Jackson should have walked into the England side together with Vince Hilaire. With a bit of far sightedness, so should Zaha a few years ago.

Not forgetting Don Rogers!
Rasid Harkouk (not English)!

Cannon should have been a regular for Scotland too.
Haven't seen a better English full back than Samson,
ticked all the boxes.

I could go on .......!!!

Wasn't our reserve keeper Tony Millington who also played for Wales?

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

My No1 keeper would be Pat Jennings, absolutely superb...

You're asking me what it's all about, and I can't tell you because I don't know what's going on myself.

I'd put Peter Bonetti above Clemence, didn't really get a look in as Banks was No1 by a mile then.
Was always blamed for going out of the world cup in 1970 but at least he never let the ball the his legs against Scotland like Clemence did.
