Ones I found strange when I first moved here were
Faucets - Taps
Orange Squash - they think it's a vegetable
Trolley - Shopping Cart
Jelly - Jam /Marmalade
& is there nothing more cringe worthy than watching (actually listening) to an English speaking attempt at commentating on American Sports, Cue tons of Footballing terms to explain something in a different sport.

Yep it swings both ways I'm afraid. You'll have a BBC presenter who can pronounce a village of 350 people in the foothills of Afghanistan perfectly to the vowel, yet insist on calling Los Angeles, Los Angelees.

Wouldn’t it be more correctly pronounced Los Ang-hell-ez? If we’re going all the way back.

Pronunciations are what bother me. U.S. pronounciation.

Schedule - skedule.

Privicy - pryvicy.

Controversy - contraversy.

As mentioned, Iraq/Iran - Eyeraq/Eyeran.

Do you mean privacy? If so, then according to the Oxford Concise dictionary, both pronunciations are acceptable.

When I first came to the states I went into Walmart and asked for some braces (for my overalls) and was told to go to an Orthodontist. It seems that braces here are known as suspenders.

Touch my coffee and I will slap you so hard even Google won't be able to find you.

Reminds me of an episode of Countdown where that wonderful Janet Street Porter had a rant about people who cant get their pronounciations right.
Stupid woman.

( Yes I watch Countdown, yes I am old).

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham
