It does make you wonder what men like Attlee and Kier Hardie would have made of current events.

I doubt Attlee would be in the Labour party.

He was a WW1 hero and a patriot. He believed in a socialist state but that came with the condition that everybody must do their bit, social justice but only with social responsibility he believed in the "good citizen". He was pro nuclear and pro American and hated the communists.

If he was around today the left would be burning effigies of him most likely they would hate him worse than the Tories.

Sigh simpler times.

I think Laurel and Hardy would do a better job today

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

I'm just finishing a biography of Clemente Attlee, I don't agree with his politics but I admire him for his principles, honesty and most of all his intergrity.

When he retired in the 1950's he publicly bemoaned the following about Labour MPS.

In his era 1900-1940's they went into politics because they saw how the poor in their area were treated and wanted to do something about it. Most of them were Trade Unionists or equivalent man of the people types.

Anyway he now complained that MPs went into the HOP because they enjoyed the power (and this was back in the fifties.)

I think he was right then and even more right right now.

Attlee by the way although middle class spent 2 decades working amongst the poor in Limehouse which then led to him becoming their MP. Today it is straight out of university into a nice cushy party job that daddy MP has lined up for them whilst they wait for a seat to become available.

We could do with a man of integrity like Attlee instead we have Flashman or the other twerp.

At least Sir Harry got things done. No integrity whatsoever admittedly, but what a hero! Things happened when he was around unlike nowdays. Anyone who hasn't read The Flashman Papers has missed the best account of British Empire history. We need a statue of the man. Maybe on the empty plinth in Trafalgar Square.

He would fall into the tory fold today not the johnson kind though a little bit more to the centre then david Cameron would be the best comparison I would say.

I haven't even seen the video but guessed she would be lying - she really is a piece of flotsam!
As always the left wing media will not acknowledge that she was wrong - they will just let the story go cold.
I hope that she is never seen in the media ever again.

She is just one out of many depressingly low-wattage MPs. These are the people who are actually governing the country, ffs.

Of course the labour MP being black has nothing to do with it and the Met being institutionally racist is irrelevant.

White members of parliament are stop searched by the violent crimes unit all the time, it is just a computer glitch.

A white computer glitch.........

So is it acceptable for an MP to openly lie about the Police?

If they are black: of course.
Recent events are showing they all have a bit of Eliot Ness disease.

The car had tinted windows so the police who stopped car did not know the ethnicity of the occupants, try and keep up even if it doesn't suit your narrative

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Maybe it is time for all types of tinted windows to be made illegal, so there would never be this type of dispute.
Wonder who would be more “annoyed” by this type of law?
